Help me understand. Most 13-18 yo teams
need a field. HS fields are unavailable for
the most part. Fields are not damaged by play.
THEY ARE DAMAGED BY NEGLECT. I saw East Meck
field tonight. (formerly one of the top fields in Charlotte)
Now has grass all over infield, looks awful.
Will HS coached and AD ever wake up??????

Well in East Mecks defense , this is the time of year with all the rain , sunshine and more rain ( greenhouse effect ) stuff is gona get out of hand. The field maintanence workers are usually the coach .
I'm sure in the next 2 months most fields will be prepared for February.

High school fields are available to anyone who goes through the Char-Meck facilities to pay to rent the majority of the high school baseball fields when the fields are available for use. CSB/AABC, Park Sharon, etc., has ran their summer baseball leagues on many of the high school baseball fields in Charlotte.

Again in East Meck's defense, a field can most definitely be damaged by to much baseball play IF a field is not given a rest and time to be maintained, serviced, and reseeded and IF a field goes straight from high school baseball play and then straight into another season of summer organized baseball play which is East Meck's case would have been CSB/AABC baseball play and then IF hopefully, maybe, the head coach might have had time off to take one or two weeks for a vacation possibly, then, yes, the East Meck field is probably looking a little rough at this time!!!

But, now that it is time for school to start back up and there is no high school or summer baseball play on the East Meck field, I'm sure that Coach Greeson will shape that East Meck baseball field right back into shape in no time at all!!! In fact, I can surely promise you that I know that he will!!!

I THINK THE ORIGINAL POSTER WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO USE A HIGH SCHOOL FIELD. WELL IF CHARLOTTE IS LIKE WINSTON. THE COACH OR AD DOESN'T HAVE A SAY IN THAT. THEY ONLY HAVE TO KEEP UP THE FIELD AND THE COUNTY OFFICE DETERMINES WHO CAN USE IT (AND GET THE MONEY FOR IT).

have you ever given any thought to the fact that the coaches/ad's may neglect the field so that others will NOT want to rent the field? i would not be surprised if that were the case...

Chet Greeson has always taken pride in his fields and undoubtedly will have that park ready for his season...but he is not going to spend time on the field getting it ready for someone else to play on it...and i don't blame him.

Trust me, Greeson will have his field ready, and i'm sure it will be ranked among the top 10 in North Carolina. Speaking to most players from last year in the SW4A, without a doubt East Meck was their favorite field to play on, it'll be ready by the spring time.

I was not taking a shot at EM or coach G.
I know youth teams do use EM, SM, MP,Olym
Harding, Big I on ocassion. But as a general rule, I think fields have very limited access.

Give Steve Buchanan and Coach Greeson two weeks...and EM will be one of the top dogs as far as the field is concerned...they copy everything from Bag's anyway :D

I hear there are some great things going on at Providence and their field as well.

    field

I was also out on the EM field. Of course they will have a field day soon, but off season, the marching band sometimes uses it and tehy might as well wait until the band is done practicing on it.
