Congrats to the Lions. I will give my honest and knowledgable assessment of the game for those who couldnt make it. ***Disclaimer*** The truth often upsets people but understand that I will always give the straight truth.. with NO chaser..>!!!

West Charlotte has a nice team. The runningback (# 28) is nice. He reminded me of a Warrick Dunn type running back.. he will be a big time back. #15 is also a heck of a receiver.. I was glad to see WC stop throwing the ball to him because he killed us early.. He runs crisp routs and has super hands....The QB has a super strong arm and could hut some people this year...... The OL moved to the ball well and the defense looked good at times.. Congrats on a well played game

Crest on the other hand has some MAJOR areas of concern that have got to be addressed or we will be singing the same ole sad song on here come playoff time.. The offense had some bright spots with the blocking. The OL is big and aggressive. Not very many holding calls tonight.. Which for Crest fans is very new. Good job to the OL.. The passing game is non existent.. Please note that the new QB still has some learning to do and we should be patient with him because he was thrown into a position that he is totally unfamiliar with. Hes going to have to learn as he goes. In the meantime the running game will have to do what it did tonight.. Take over...!!!! Good job to the offense.. The defense has some work to do.....Where do I start.. Lets get on the DBs.. The corners were toasted ALL night.. The safeties bit on the big ones and will be SUSPECT all year if thats how they are goin to play it.. # 6 bailed us out with a couple big INT's.. IF we take him outta the equation then things were even worse. The defense missed a ton of tackles and they werent flyin to the ball like NORMAL CHARGER defenses have done. Brandon Spikes in my OPINION ( and I am entitled to that) would be more of an impact from a 3 technique or a 5 technique.. ( for you non football people a 3 technique is a D. Tackle and a 5 is the D. END).. Special teams are just that... VERY SPECIAL.. That kicker is unbelievable.. He reminds me of another really strong Crest Kicker from the past.. ( Gene Fowler).. There wont be too many kicks returned this year.. Hes a good 'un....I think we blocked a kick.. So the special teams showed up to play.. As i stated earlier.. these are my opinions and before you decide to jump on me verbally remember that I am a fan and I am entitled to my opinion.. I love the Chargers.. but I can also be objective. And if the DB's dont tighten up.. ANY team that can put 4 or 5 good pass routes in the system.. can cause us trouble......Lets hope we tighten up before the LIONS roll into town again in two weeks..

i heard on the radio on the way home from the burns game that gullate was 4 for 13 with 13 yards!! that doesnt sound good for crest..but like you said he has to learn the position..if Crest doesnt get some things fixed by Oct 24, from the way its sounds the Burns/Crest game may not be a game!! cause like you all know Burns can throw the ball and hurt you with it!!

IF we dont tighten up the program by then it could be a joyous night for the friends from Lawndale.. Heck if we dont tighten up by Sept 5 it could be a happy night for the Shelby folks......

I think Crest will be ok this year but as you know the offense runs through the QB position. Our QB is very inexpirienced and has a lot to learn and that has a lot to do with the blown opportunities last night on offense.Lets not forget that W Charlotte commited several turnovers that we only converted 1 into points.I noticed a lot of indecision with our QB on several plays where as if he were more familiar with the offense more plays WOULD have been made.I agree with the Spikes kid seemingly looking out of place and maybe last night it would have been better for him to have played DE but lets not forget that there may not be anyone to play the middle except him
 W Charlottes offensive line was huge and we probably won't see a line that size all year. They had size and skill. This was a good learning expirence for coaches and players and at least with this loss we still have more games to play.Lets not forget that last years State 3aa champs had 4 or 5 losses. The days of running through the schedule undefeated are fun but only give false hope when you bow out in the playoffs in the 3rd or 4th round.I think we as Crest fans have become very complacent and it seems to have rubbed off on the players and coaches as well, its like when they step on the field they feel its already a win.Its good to be confident but not overconfident and a loss now just makes you more hungry to prove yourself again and these young Chargers have a lot to prove and that makes them more dangerous than before:xyzthumbs

If Im not mistaken Carver was the 3 AA champ last year . They were undefeated. I do agree with you that the Crest players continue to walk with the swagger of old charger teams but lack the development to back up the trash that they throw.. We got a long way to go.. Honestly I cant see us improving beyond the development of the QB...Lets hope he comes along.. hes doin the best he can... hes been THROWN into an unfamiliar situation and has to adjust

    Well...

    Here's the good news:

    1. The Crest defense will do nothing but improve, and you know there'll be two weeks worth of tackling drills upcoming for those folks.
    2. Gullate will get better, but it will take time. He had the deer in headlights look going, and that'll go away sooner or later.
    3. It's the season opener. It counts, but not nearly as much as those conference and playoff games will down the road. Losing to WC sucks for the Charger faithful, but there are worse things.
    4. Travis Padgett is a great back, and behind a good OL, he'll win a few games by himself this year.

You just need to worry about Providence. You luck up and beat a team with way less talent that you all put on the field. It might be different when you see them boys again. I think you all dynasty is already at a end. You all have over 110 kids in the program each year and you brag about 6 state titles. Tommy has won 3 at INDY and could be a fourth with city boys.
