Fall Baseball

    Fall Baseball kicks off in the Davie-Mocksville Fall League this week end with a 3 day tournament beginning Sat. and ending Monday. Teams expected to participate will include Albemarle, Kernersville-Glen, Davie, Forsyth(2 teams), Taylorsville, and Wilkes. All games will be held at Mocksville's Rich Park.

    the League begins Sat. Sept. 13 and runs through Oct. 26, with games being played every week-end. i understand there are 14 teams participating in the league this fall. the level of competition has been compared to that of the Greater Raleigh Fall League. i also understand there were 22 teams trying get into this league.

    past players include, Larrimore, Idol, and Pope from N. Forsyth, Payne and Hollifield from Taylorsville, Willoughby, Barnes, and Crotts from Davie, Crotts and Walker from W. Forsyth....this is only a sampling of who has played in this league..

    as soon as i get a schedule i will post it, if it is ok with the board..

    Kernersvill-Glenn plays West Forsyth @ 3:45 on Saturday, then they play Mocksville @ 9:00 am and Mooresville @ 8:00 pm on Sunday.

    Taylorsville vs Wilkes @ 1:30 Sat.

    Taylorsville vs W. Forsyth @ 1:30 Sun.
    Taylorsville vs Albemarle @ 6:00 Sun

    top 2 teams in each division will play Monday at 10am and 12 noon..

    Saturdays game could feature a pitching match-up of Wes Cogdell(senior) from Wilkes and Jordan Hefner(senior) or Brian Corbett(junior) from T'ville...

    this tourney is shaping up to have some very good baseball players from the western part of the state...

    I love fall baseball, seems to be less pressure on the kids and gives them a chance to work on skills. Sounds like a great league.

    who are the west forsyth kids playing for??? i know of the triad titans but are the younger guys playing also????

    i believe W. Forsyth is fielding 2 teams, the Titans and Jayhawks..i could be wrong...

    i should know all the teams after the tourney and i get a schedule...i will post those teams in the league...

    the players seem to like it because of less pressure and the rules are relaxed a bit..it is a good place for college coachs to get a look-see at some good talented players they may not know yet and some they do know..

    this Saturday will probably have 8 teams playing and all 8 playing again on Sunday...if ya like high school age baseball, all fans are welcome. Consessions are open.
