My son is playing in these showcases for Ken Shuey's team - GRFBL North. There are 2 Charlotte teams playing in the Chapel Hill showcase and one in the Raleigh showcase. There appear to be 11 or so teams in each showcase from all over the state and out of state. Any feedback on who is coming from any of these teams? Attached is the North Wake County Baseball Association Website link which shows the teams, location and time of play. I am sure I will see some of you there which will be great after reading all of the wonderful information everyone puts out on this board

    Showcase ?

I assist with the Pitt Co. team and we have played against several of the GRFBL teams so far this fall. Which of these teams are combined to form the north and south teams for these showcases. We have faced Durham, Wake Forest , Sanford so far this fall and was interested who is combined with who. Were you at Mount Olive Sat. ?

    Re: Showcase ?

Yes we were at Mount Olive on Saturday. The players for the GRFBL - North are coming from the Wakefield team and the Durham team as I understand it. In addition 3 pitchers are coming from other teams. I guess that means the South team is coming from Wake Forest, Clayton and Sanford

Hopefully we will be able to be a little more competive that weekend. We are struggling with the bats. Our team consist of only players off of one HS team. Yesterday we were extremly young. We had only three or four players who will most likely start in the spring. We had six or seven players absent for various reasons. Which team is your son on? We also got rained out today we were suppose to play Fayettville and Clayton. We are going to try to pick up
a game or two next Sat. and we are scheduled to go to Clayton for 2 on Sunday..

We are the Wakefield team and we struggled a bit at Mount Olive as well. Our pitching had a hard time and this is the only game we have lost this fall (although we are not really keeping score), the entire purpose of this team is to give seniors exposure to recruiters. My son is a pitcher for this team and he had one really good inning and one that was horrible. Today we played Durham and everybody played better including my son who faced 11 batters in 3 innings. Much much better.

    Top Prospects

As I stated before the Pitt team is players off of one school team. (JH Rose 2003 state champ). Currently have five or six players receiving college attention. Core group of seniors have appeared in 2 world series (Little League and 16 yr old babe ruth), won 4 age group summer state titles and last years 4-A State. Top Players include: Kevin Hodges OF-P, LH hitter for power and average, above speed and a cannon for a arm. Was 9-1 as a pitcher for the rampants last year. Alex White C-1B-DH LH with plenty of power. Led the rampants in hitting for large part of last year before falling off a little. Both Kevin and Alex are also playing with the Impact team this fall also. Justin Hardee (INF.) LH hitter as well with a picture perfect swing. Grew up as a ss but was moved to 1st base for the Rampants last year. Has played all 4 infield spots this fall in a effort to answer questions for the spring. Mark Letchworth (OF) RH hitter for power and average. Super defensive outfield with above average speed, plus arm. Highlight for Mark last year was HR off of Honeycutt (F-Varina) to win state semi-final. Sam Byrum (P) not overpower (82-85) but good command with a nice curve. This fall and spring big for Sam after not seeing alot of action behind Hodges and Michael Flye (ECU) last year. These guys along with 2 junior pitchers Garrett Bullock (LHP) 85-88 and Michael Hallow (82-83) should all play at some division of the next level. All are currently receiving looks and contacts.

Evidently the entire showcase has not been cancelled as we just received a call that we will play one 9 inning game tomorrow. Both of the games we were to play today (Saturday) were cancelled due to rain. We were suppose to play 2 games tomorrow at Chapel Hill, but now it is down to 1 game for 9 innings
