Alec Zumwalt Gets Win!

    NC product Alec Zumwalt (East Forsyth) got his 1st win in the Arizona Fall League! He plays for the Mesa Solar Sox.
    Congrats to a great young man!

    Great post NC-dad.. good to see Zoom, a Kernersville/Triad guy, get some well deserved recognition.

    As far as his win yesterday, Mesa was down 9-2 when he came in in, so he got some major run support to get the win but his stats for the highly selective AFL are mirroring his stats for the entire '03 season. As NC-dad pointed out earlier to me, Alec is the youngest pitcher on their staff and is facing some major bats.

    Here are his stats for the season:

    (A)Myrtle Beach:
    W-L: 5-2
    Sv: 6
    ERA: 2.22
    IP: 44.2
    R: 11
    BB: 16
    K: 43

    (AA)Greenville:
    W-L: 1-1
    Sv: 0
    ERA: 1.42
    IP: 19.0
    R: 15
    BB: 12
    K: 19

    (AFL)Mesa:
    W-L: 1-0
    Sv: 0
    ERA: 1.59
    IP: 5.2
    R: 1
    BB: 0
    K: 6

    Alec's combined ERA for this season is 1.95 so far!

    Sounds like Alec is gonnna make it to the "SHOW" before too long? I enjoyed working with him as well as against him back in the Metro 4A! Quite a stud as I have said earlier...:D

    Alec is currently sitting at 1.35 era in Ariz.
