For those who have recently joined us...this thread is to show that ...in baseball...there is more than 1 solution to each situation.

Top of the 7th, runners at 3d base and 1st base, 1 out, tie ball game. you are the home team. defense this situation. btw, middle of the line up, both starters gone.

I'd have my corner guys playing in for the out at home, and my middle guys playing halfway where they could get a ground ball double play, or on a softly hit ground ball get the runner at home.

i agree with the 2 above post.
    1. pray for 2 strikeouts
    2. in on the corners and play for 2 up the middle (if your middle infield is adept at turning 2) if you haven'st turned a double play all year, bring 'em all up

    common scenario!

Alot more factors to consider in my opinion! Everything mentioned is very applicable yet there are quite a few other things a coach has to consider. Who is pitching? Do u have a knock down lights out closer? If so bring him in OR match up a lefty righty situation that you think is favorable to your team /defense (stikeout pitcher or groundball inducer etc)! How far into the season are you and yes how many Dp's have your MINF turned? Also how "good" and or "steady are your M INF's? Are the players prone to handling the pressure, making the routine, AND THE big game winning plays? Have they been steady and proven in the past? If not, might want to consider playing the entire infield closer to 1/2 in? What has the middle of the order done today IF NOT on the season? Are you, do you have scouting reports on these hitters? Let's say the next guy up is four for four with three bombs! Might want to think twice about pitching to him again? May seeeeem unorthodox yet putting him on is not should not be out of the question... This "particular" situation is one of MANY that makes the game of baseball so great, exciting and tense! How confident is your team? How have they been playing all year? Where do they stand in the conference and playoff picture? Bottom line is this is OBVIOUSLY not good. Doesn't hurt to pray and cross your fingers... D :D

This is the son again. I have to agree with the guy above but also does your pitcher on the mound move real good. If so you can take the chance of playing your corner guys a little deeper. Then they can get to more balls as well as turning the double play and not even worrying about the guy on third. If the pitcher doesn't move good then you would have to play half way with the middle and in on the corners. If you walk the guy you can do what I said first if the guy doesn't run well and if you have a good catcher that can get the ball and maybe turn 2 the hard way by going to 2nd and then to first. Do you play your outfield in or deep? Its a question. You play them did then most people don't have the arm to throw it home, on a line, in time to get the out. You play them back then they have almost no chance to get behind the ball to make a good throw home. Personally I would just pull my hair out. This is why I still have mine and why I am going to wait until I start losing my hair to become a coach.

This is her son. I know she's from Enka but I don't know what a sugarjet is. If she gets on she can reply because I don't have a clue.
