Providence is obviously the most logical choice, but then again aren't they the most logical choice every year. I wouldn't put it past them to pull up short at the end of the year.

South will be good with the up coming players from JV. They always find away to get it done. They could do it they same way they do it every year by scrapping and clawing their way in. Providence is always stacked. Its the people in the middle that I would worry about.

I agree sugarjet, it does depend on the people in the middle, and heres why.

South and providence are the most logical choices for 1st and 2nd. however, you can't put it past east and myers park. Although both lost many VERY important seniors, look at who they return. Each will have a bonified number 1, smith, and buchanan. Each returns at least 3 hitters, MP-smith, rollins, and kramer, east- teague, gehringer, and savago.

East beat providence 3 times last year, providence swept south, myers park swept east, and if i'm not mistaken myers park split with south. There is the potential for a very messed up conference this year. Because not only do you have the big four of last year, but Olympic, and Butler, who also return players from last eyar that can and will upset some teams.

I think, that this year rides more on the coaching this year than anything. It will come down to which coach can keep his team focused, How they set up their rotations (which with the loss of many pitchers from each team) will be crucial for each team, and also how players respond to coaches.

In the past there have been guys like woodard, wilson, white, hiill, collins, taffozoli, burnham, kerr, robinson, daniels, mangum, griffin, ect. However this year with the exception of providence, and south, there aren't any other teams loaded with senior talent. granted east and MP have people capapble of carrying a team, but it comes down to how these kids react to what there coaches ask of them.

Just to throw this out in the air as well, in the past Providence hasnt responded to new coaches very well. I think it is going to be different this year, with Coach Hignite, this is still a team that will potentially start 9 seniors, that have not had a stable philosophy since 1996. and now that its their senior year they must learn one and win. February is just around the corner.

man toss a coin....the southwest 4a is one of the top conferences in the state, there are several outstanding teams that would dominate alot of other conferences, so picking one team is extremely tough, espicially with all the talent that all of the schools have. but the team that does win should have a great shot at states too!
