I agree, I was just pointing out that she'll keep that team in contention even if they struggle to fill the voids, and she's only a junior if I'm not mistaken. Getting to face her twice a year is tough, but a good challenge for our hitters.

"i have always felt good about West Stanly but w/o the dominant pitcher to lead when your bats fail you........honorable mention unless ladycolt can update us with all new prospect there working hard to fill those shoes left by Keri Blackwelder???"

CFBALL.....I agree, my picks for 2A would have to be Forbush and Forest Hills. Without not only Blackwelder's talent, but also without her leadership, I think that the team to beat in the RRC this year will be Forest Hills not West Stanly. They gave West several good games last year, but just couldn't produce the runs of Keri they needed to win. It should be an interesting year for 2A softball.....cant wait to see what happens! Good luck to all 2004 softballers!

RRC_FHILLS, first welcome to TBR Softball and glad you found us!

Keri is an outstanding young lady who is a natural leader and her absense will truely even it up in the RRC for the time being, since we both know West Stanly just seems to fire back year in and year out since FP hit NC. We here at TBR will keep a close eye on FHHS as we are hearing you guys maybe the team to beat. Hope you will contiune with some reports on Jacket Softball, schedule, easter tournaments, up and coming freshman and interesting softball Stuff........this is what the forum is all about.

    Thanks and again Welcome Aboard!

Do you have children who play at FHHS or another great supporter of the game? Just curious...........as we have alot of players, parents, coaches from all levels (tee ball to College) who frequent the best little softball forum on the east coast.

    top 5 predictions

CF Ball, Cherryville has the same team returning with the exception of one player, so why have they just earned an honerable mention. Most of the teams you have listed did not go far in the playoffs or even make it. What changed over the winter months?

xpert_88.......ohhh i know and i see Cherryville moving up once they play Ashbrook, Maiden, East Lincoln, Alexander Central and the likes this season. In my opinion only here..........head to head competition and feel that Cherryville is actually in the top 25 or so teams in WNC. No doubt They are returning a great group of experienced players and college prospects and I have the upmost respect for Coach Hicks, her staff and the great community support there and enjoy watching a few games every year. Those Lotta Burgers are always icing on the cake afterwards..........seriously just throwing together a starter poll, encouraging feedback from softballers like yourself and all others. PM me a TBR Top 25 vote as a few others have and we'll all work together to have an accurate/popular tally worthy of print.

One question though..........who other than Kings Mtn and Alexander Central
didnt not make the playoffs? Just curious..................my ole mind aint what it use to be!
Thanks for pointing out one of Cherryville's strengths this year and they have many! Hopeful most players are Improving this winter......changing them in a couple months, nearly impossible.
This should be one of the better years for Gaston County Softball and i hope they can contiune playing each other to determine a county champion! Do you know whether they are planning to have it this year or not(easter i think)?

    Have a great 2004!

    CFBall,
Easter Tournament will be at Ashbrook on April 13-15. Teams are Ashbrook, Cherryville, East Gaston, South Point, Highland Tech, Crest, RS Central, and Bandys. All county schools were invited but only those listed accepted invitations to play. The fact that these games could be used as a tie breaker in the playoff system was a deterent.

Top Teams Down East (Rocket Launcher)

    OK everyone,

here is my take on high school teams from the east that should do very well this year in hope of reaching the finals at walnut creek. They are in no particular order.

    1. Manteo
    2. C.B. Aycock
    3. Harnette Central
    4. Greenville J.H. Rose
    5. D.H. Conley
    6. Ayden Grifton
    7. Wilson Hunt
    8. Fike High
    9. Wilson Beddingfield

I'm sure I left someone out but these MAY be some of the teams you will probably see in the FINAL FOUR.

West Stanly definately lost several quality players to graduation last year. But we are not planning on having a bad season...we have two strong underclass pitchers, a freshman and a sophomore. They know they have big shoes to fill but they are up for the challenge. We have many other strong returning position players in the infield and outfield that got a taste of Raleigh last year and are eager to return. We have an excellent JV program that just keeps sending up talented players. Since I having been at West (4 years), we have lost only 6 JV games. The RRC should be a battle again this year between West Stanly, an outstanding Forest Hills team and a team you can never count out,Charlotte Catholic. Good Luck to all teams....it will be here before we know it!!

May be a surprise or two waiting in the RRC 2A this year.

Sounds interesting "oh well 1" can you give us a little insight? I'm really not as familiar with all the 2A as I should be, do know West Stanly has been a tough team to beat the last 4 years with Blackwelder not only on the mound, but an all round player! Will be interesting to see how WS performs after losing several key players in '03. I too have heard Forrest Hills will be the dominant team in the RRC but fill us in on others in the conference, who to watch, etc. GOOD LUCK to all softballers' in the upcoming '04 season!! See you all on the field!
