Strongest most talented HS Team you ve ever seen or played against?

    Hands down from my point of view which is rather limited We played a team that was the strongest most talented I have ever seen and I think most have heard of this school---GEORGE WASHINGTON-Danville HS in Virginia! Any thoughts others??? The Coach at the time was a guy named Barker who I believe recently left to take a job somwehere here in NC on the coast?

    1993 New Hanover HS (Wilmington, NC)

    1st rounder - Trot Nixon (Sr)
    5th rounder - Fletcher Bates (Sr)
    3rd rounder - Sean Gallagher (So) (National Hitting Streak Record Holder)
    Two pitchers selected in the draft in the next couple of years
    ***The rounds are a best guess by memory

    I believe (and this number may be a little off also) a total of 17 Division 1 players were on their state playoffs roster (they brought some of their JV players up for the playoffs). This club was very good and ran through the state playoffs and then made a run without Trot or Fletcher into the national championship game in American Legion. The Wilmington crew dropped a pop up on the infield with 2 outs allowed and allowed the winning run to force a second championship game. They lost game two in a close battle.

    This was one of those clubs that beat a lot of teams during BP.

    OH YES!!!!!!!!

    Just so happened I coached my team against them this year!!! Wouldn t you know! Actually had them beat or at least I thought for the rallied in the 6th and 7th to vercome a 4-2 deficit against us and wound up stomping us something like 12 -4 But they were loaded! and I loved playin at the Legion stadium there somewher down 87 I believe goin toward Carolina Beach???? :thumbup:

    But TWO very good guesses would be either Whiteville or Cherryville I BET!!!!!!

    They lost to a legion team from Miami, with a talented shortstop by the name of Alex Rodruiguez.

    I agree. I was in college at UNCW then, and saw them play many times. Awesome team.
