Central Cabarrus looked very strong in their first scrimmage of the year beating Forbush by the score of 8-1 in 10 innings. The one run being unearned. Neitiher team scored until the 6th inning. Central hit the ball well after the 5th inning outhitting Forbush 13-2. The pitching was strong well Allen/Scism combined for 20k's and only 4bb's in 10IP only giving up two infield hits. Angel pitched 5 strong innings for Forbush striking out 9 and giving up two hits.

Central did look very good at the plate, on the mound, and in the field. They have got to be the best hitting team in the state. But to give Forbush a little credit Central scored 1 run on the #3 varsity pitcher and 7 runs on JV (freshman) pitchers. So the score might not be a good indicator of the level of play.

Coach Sherill has done a great job with his squad!

Central Cabbarus has a great team but I would have to differ in respect to the statement that Sherrill has done a GREAT job he has done ok but he inherited a great team. Almost any decent coach in the state should win the state championship with this team

From a parent standpoint, I have never seen my daughter so excited about playing softball. I know that she has been given more literature and one on one coaching than I have ever witnessed. Every skills is broken down and the practices are long and intense. Dark-thirty is quitting time for this bunch now. Yes, central was talented before Sherrill arrived but we have fallen short of late. I see the difference in discipline, team unity, attention to detail, team defense and especially the hitting area. I heard a quote by an old coach one time and I think it may apply, "Every coach has to have talent to win, but most coaches lose with it". From a parent standpoint, I am excited about our new field, new attitude and refreshing atmosphere around our program. GO CENTRAL! Central-D we are on the same team so let's enjoy the season. It should be one for the record books! :applause:
