    Mudcat, Reynolds I think is playing kinda young this year and they did commit some error's(I don't think there were nine though). ACHS scored four in the bottom of the first and appeared to loose their focus a little bit.Reynolds scored in the top or the fifth (three runs on a couple hits, two walks). ACHS then scored several in the bottom of the fifth.Comer was able to get some of the non-starters in the game at that point which was good to see.Reynolds may suprise some people late in the year. :xyzthumbs

    AC Reynolds defense wasn't the best by any means but AC Cougars ripped the ball to the extent to where the errors were less likely than AC Cougars to get a hit. Seemed like one inning AC slapped 3 or 4 doubles in a row (no errors) and really blew the game wide open from that point. I recall five errors from my seat but i am for sure that there wasn't nine in my scorebook.

    Here is a copy of the box score that was in the paper:
    REYNOLDS 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 - 3 4 9
    ALEXANDER 4 0 0 0 5 2 X - 11 8 1

    Now if that doesn't say 9 errors I don't know what does? :huh:
    I doubt the Reynolds coach would have put that in the Asheville paper if it were true.

    I think the scorekeeper had some problems judging hits from errors.

    Can't speak for East Burke, but I will say the SOuth Caldwell Spartans are now 1-1 in conference after winning at East Burke Friday night (1-0). Sophomore Matt Gragg goes 6 1/3 and takes the win. Neil Younce cleans up the last two outs for the save...

    South plays Monday vs Wilkes Central and off Tuesday before playing Freedom Friday.

    My guess is that the scorekeeper was probably pretty accurate. I have found over the years that most HS scorekeepers are too generous in calling errors hits. That is why college coaches don't put a whole lot of faith in HS stats.
