Watched a young boy (14 1/2) throw 128 yesterday - early in the season and a chilly day.

    Just disgusting to watch.

Coaches - do not do this. This is a bad thing to do.

 ...why would a coach do this? I'm sure there are some good middle school coaches, but some of them have no clue....I hope someone talks to this coach. :nono:

7 inning game, that's over 18 pitches per inning. Whether it's middle school or JV, you've must have other options...take the loss and go home!

I know of at least two kids from Gaston County that were subjected to that treatment when they were 12 and they never finished playing in high school becuase their arms were gone. Yeah, they won back to back AAU state championships (12,13) but they were effectively done or the rest of their careers.

According to NC Preps a kid from Lumberton threw 11 innings yesterday, and this is a HS kid. You would definitely think a HS coach would know better this early in the year. Of course it was a 1-0 game so the pitch count might not be quite that outrageous but I can't help but think 11 innings is too much this early.

I heard of a pitcher throwing 140 pitches in a game earlier this week. When will some of these coaches get a grip? 100 pitches is a usual max for me, then it depends on the kid. We have had nobody throw 100 pitches yet, 95 has been the max so far.

The best NOT to get a kid his college looks. I don't think we have had a kid go over 80 yet and if so it didn't go over 85. Not only is that 140 or 128 pitches in the game. You still have pre game throwing, pre game warmups, and between innings warmups. That might be over just 250 pitches hen all the throwing to get loose. If I am a kid and I have been left in for that much my arm might not recover for 2 weeks. I hate to come out of a game but if I feel this I might start asking to come out.

I hope that game was really worth coach and maybe you will pay for the kids arm surgery this summer for throwing 8000 pitches for you before spring break. :teeth: :bird1: :stupid:
