If both teams do not make it to the final round of the tournament, there is a single game played to determine who get the seed in question. There is no tie-breaker for who goes the fartherest in the tournament, less of course one of the teams makes it to the finals. Example team A and team B are tied and split head-to-head during the season...both teams won or loss the same number of games vs the teams ahead of them in during conference play. With me so far? If team A loses the first night, and team B wins the first night, however, team B loses the second night, a play-off game is still required to determine the seed. Clear as mud don't you think?

~shaking head~..man, I'm glad we won't have to worry about tie breakers. It's set with:

    1. SM
    2. Providence
    3. Myers Park

The only thing that could effect this outcome is if another team wins the conf. tourney. In that case they are seeded 2nd...Prov. is 3rd and MP gets bumped out.

Whew...I was getting a headache with all the other scenarios

    SW4A Tournament Dates Revised...

    SW4A Conference Tournament:

1st Round of the SW4A Conference Tournament Play:
    5/10: # 4 Seed (East) vs. #5 Seed (Butler) @ South @ 6:00pm
    5/10: # 1 Seed (South) vs. #8 Seed (Garinger) @ South @ 8:00pm
    5/10: #3 Seed ( Myers Park) vs. # 6 Seed (Olympic) @ 6:00pm @ Providence
    5/10: #2 Seed (Providence) vs. # 7 Seed (Waddell) @ 8:00pm @ Providence

This is the revised part: ;)
    SW4A Semi Finals – May 11, Tuesday, @ Providence @ 6:00 & 8:00
    SW4A Finals – May 13, Thursday, @ Providence @ 8:00.

 Note: MECA-8 finals on May 13, Thursday, @ Providence @ 6:00! Not sure why but...Providence should be a great place to be on Thursday night @ 6:00 and 8:00 for a lot of good baseball?!?

Combining them in Charlotte makes great sense on many levels. Playing them on Thursday (standard in the Meca-8) makes more sense than playing them on friday.

From a "Single Location, Two Championship games" standpoint:

#1. Better event coverage from the Observer. Don't need two reporters.
#2. More attractive for colleges to attend. More prospects to see.
#3. Bigger crowd and larger gate. 2 games attractive to casual fans.
#4. Bigger concession revenue from staying at field longer.

    Thursday vs Friday:

#1. Colleges aren't playing, they can come watch.
#2. Longer rest period before tuesday's state playoffs begin.
    #3. Friday available as a "rain-date".

Thanks for your comments, NCBBALLFAN, not against this...just wondering why it finally came about this year and never before in the past and...why a SW4A school was fortunate to host these championship events over a MECA-8 school?!?

Makes very good sense to me...I'm excited about the upcoming events on Thursday, 5/13...again, just wondering how this finally ALL came about?!? :xyzthumbs

Here is an idea ....... just for fun.

What if the Meca-8/SW4A champions paired off on Friday in a city championship. Don't know what you would do if the tournament champion wasn't the same team as the regular season champion, but it's fun to think about.

I think the Metro-6 and CPC should do the same thing. Ditto the NPC/SPC ... you get the drift.
