    I believe that is wrong

    JMR gets the #1 state play off bid automatically because they were #1 seed in conference and they made it farther in the tournement then the #2 seed Weddington

    NW4A Conference Final (Alexander Central/South Caldwell)

    (@ Watauga High)

    WP -- Payne
    LP -- Reid

    South Caldwell led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth after getting to the seemingly untouchable Payne for three straight extra-base hits in the top of the inning. But in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a couple of errors, Alexander scored SIX UNEARNED runs to make Reid the tough-luck loser. Younce was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles for South. Zach Orren, who hit a two-run triple during the Cougars comeback, garnered tournament MVP. Alexander wins regular season and tournament titles.

    Kudos to the fine Watauga grounds crew and the Pioneer players who were on hand. Even though they didn't have a dog in the fight, they poured hundreds of dollars of turface on the field and busted A to make the field playable after a heavy rain. They should host the tournament every year -- truly a class act.

    HR: Bargaloh(JMR), Holmes(JMR)

    Benson threw his 4th complete game in a row and is 4-0 in his last 4 starts and given up 5 runs in his last 28 IP. Newsome threw very well for Concord but the back to back HR's gave Robinson the lead for good.

    Robinson does get the #1 seed now out of the SPC with this victory, and the Weddington loss. If Peidmont wins tommorow then they will be the #2 seed out of the conference.

    Still not sure if start time is 7:00 or 7:30 ???????????

    #6 South Point upset #2 East Gaston 10-2 setting up a chapionship matchup with #1 Ashbrook, a 6-3 winner over #4 Forestview.

    South Point is trying to play it's way into the state playoffs. They have beaten the #2 and #3 seeds and now must beat #1 Ashbrook. If South Point beats Ashbrook then #3 North Gaston will be dumped out of the playoffs.

    South Point vs Ashbrook at Ashbrook 7:00.

    Other than the Big East (JH Rose #1, New Bern #2) .. does anyone know what's going on in the eastern part of the state? How are those championships going?

    In the Cap 6 5/13/04

    Millbrook and Wakefield are tied for 1st place in the conference, Wake Forest Rolesville is in 2nd place. All three teams have one more game to determine who the top 2 seeds are coming out of the conference.
