MAC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT 3A

This was his response back to me....haha....must have felt you deserved the same email....haha...I answered him back....maybe I should post it here...huh?
Hanger4, thanks for writing him....a lot of people wouldn't take the time...My email subject line said MAC Conference....Is he saying Enka is the only team in the conference? Who the heck were all those other teams we were playing.....

:huh: I would really like to know why there was no coverage of the MAC tourny this past week. Absolutely, someone should have been writing a story but at the minimum there should have been box scores. They had box scores all year. Did no one call in the scores? That is possible but hard to believe. I know that ACT only supplies one full time writer for all of prep sports, and yes, it is impossible for one or two writers to cover all the big sporting events...for that I don't blame the writers but the sports editor and the editor of the paper. BUT the real frustrating thing is that excuse isn't true all year.... all games seem to get covered, somehow, someway, for football and basketball. The MAC playoffs in basketball get headline coverage.

How to fix it? EnkaJet04 is right. Email ACT... but they get complaints all the time so we need to get ACT swamped with complaints. Also, I think Jacob doesn't have control of this issue so we need to overflow the ACT editor and sports editor's box. Our girls and all prep athletes work soo hard...they deserve their time in the spotlight...so send those emails.

 

Jacob, the email was not sent to you for you to get your dander up but to inform you. I believe that my email subject matter was "MAC Conference" not Enka only. Last time I checked there were 9 teams in the conference and not Enka by themselves. I do not expect you to cover all games but the first ever conference tournament I thought the newspaper would. The conference tournament does make a difference. If any team other than the top three had won the tournament then they would have gone as the number two seed team and the second seed would have dropped to third. So, yes the conference tournament does make a difference. Did it this year...NO, but you can't know that outcome ahead of time. I was told by everyone that writing you would be a mistake. I hate that you have proven those people right. I wrote you a couple weeks back complimenting you on your coverage....Short memory huh? Enka plays thursday at home against St. Stevens...cover it if you like or not if you so choose.

There are other sports besides softball and other teams besides Enka, sir. In case you have not noticed, we have been covering state championships and playoffs in other sports. That is far more important than a postseason conference tournament that has no bearings on the regular season or the playoffs. We will cover Enka and the rest of the Western North Carolina teams when the softball playoffs begin. We cannot cover every game a team plays, and we should not do that. We have to spread the wealth, so to speak. By the way, Enka has received more coverage than any other softball team this season. So, I cannot understand why you are complaining. But thanks for your e-mail.

MAC Conference

As the rest of you guys were, I was disappointed as well that ACT did not cover the tournament. Hopefully the playoffs will be different especially since they have heads up.... :scared2: Couldn't wait...just like a kid in a candy store to read the paper this am and....NOTHING !!!!!!!

Wait till I post his last response to me....I am going to call my friends in Franklin to get their write up of the tournament and fax it to them...They write about Roberson baseball team at least 3 times a week. No complaints on that but don't give me the crap about we write about you more than anybody else. Just a cop out....They probably wrote about us what little they did to say they were covering softball...NOT....I wish they would publish conference standings so all of us would know where everybody is in the thick of things...They might even do that in football in the future...oops...they already do....my bad...
