Concord American Legion Post 51

    How is the Legion team in Concord looking this year? I hear Benton is now playing for Rowan County. Is this true?

    Concord has a rich history of legion ball, but for whatever reason they ended last summer with only about 10-11 players. I'm hearing the same thing that you are about several Concord players trying to get releases so they can play elsewhere. I've also heard that none of the Central boys are playing either. I don't know what the problem in Concord is, but my question would be is Concord even having a team???

    Havent been able to attend any Post 51 practices b/c my Robinson Bulldogs are still in the playoffs, but this is what I am hearing. . .

    Robinson will bring catcher Brandon Setzer, 1st basebman James Holmes, and pitchers Andy Benson and Chris Carlson. Also playing is 2 players that graduated from JMR last year; Jeff Schaffer (Pfeiffer) and Michael Kearney (App. St.)
    Justin Reidenhour (Pfeiffer) plans on playing but may have to have surgery that wouldnt allow him.
    Zack Scott (Wilkes CC) plans on playing.
    Mt. Pleasant 3rd baseman Brett Fisher is playing

    I dont know about the Central players.

    Josh Benton has been rumored to be playing for Rowan County and also Kannapolis. Haven't talked to him so I am not sure what he is doing. I wouldnt plan on seeing him in a Concord jersey though.

    Thats about all I know??????????

    is Caldwell still the POST 51 coach ? If he is that might be why everyone is getting releases.... Great Player back in the day.. but terrible as a coach
