NC -- give us some more details -- when and how did NM score their runs -- how many Ks did Rosenbaum and Martin have, etc. Thanks.

im not trying to bash hignite, and im sure he is a great guy and coach. but i saw it with my own 2 eyes, he shoved one of the north meck players while he was running over to argue the call that ended the game, 2 other people i was with saw it too. im sure that does not reflect his character at all and he was just frustrated and it was at the heat of the moment, but it did happen

Nope, Dynasty.....I wasn't referring to your post. You were accurate in what you said.

If this is something that is discussed, let's put it under it's own thread. Let's keep this thread for scores and recaps of games...thank you, guys. I'm just as guilty.

    Character and Class?

Bad language toward your own players and to players on opposing teams does not reflect good character nor make a coach a classy person, whoever the coach is.

I think the explanation for the uproar falls back on the umpiring crew! They were definately making some really bad calls. It all started with the call on the pitcher (Providence) and they (all three umpires) were not sure whether is was a balk (sp) or not! Needless to say, that walked in the first run as bases were loaded. Then the next guy also walked as the strike zone was non existent - this guy should have been out. I could go on and on. It's a shame we can't have umpires that can make the correct calls. All of their runs (NM)were unearned!

As for the last call that unloaded the bench - the Providence boys were shouting at the umpires -- NOT the NM PLAYERS! Providence has taken a bad rap for several years and everyone dislikes them -- the umpires, the charlotte observer and the other teams. They are really a nice bunch of boys.

This was a great, hard fought game, that ended very badly. The players are kids, let's face it. Whatever player says what, the reactions of the North Meck & Providence coaching staffs were an embarassment to the game, sport & their schools. It is a sad day for sportsmanship & adult examples when the AD & Principal of the school have to be on the field corraling coaches. I would hope that the players from both teams rise above the actions of their coaches.....which, by the way, wouldn't be hard to do. No matter how bad the calls, the Providence staff needed to accept it & move on, & the North Meck staff needed to show some sportsmanship & respect for the game & go shake hands. The most pathetic sight of the night was the Providence team lined up on the base line, the North Meck team sitting in their dugout, & all the coaches yelling & screaming.................

I truly feel that most of the Providence boys regret the actions that they took after the game against NM. That team has been through a tough three years with 3 different coaches & no recognition from the papers etc. when it was due. Practically that whole team is seniors and they have played together since they where 10. I know for a fact that their rec ball coach did not put up with any negative attitude, but when you are pushed to the limit, your actions may get the best of you. With that said, I don't feel that Providence is a team of poor losers, I think that they just had enough of high school politics. As one player said "I'm ready to move on" and that is pretty sad when that is the final feeling that a great baseball athlete has when his season is over.

    High School politics.....

come on now! I truly feel badly for the majority of the team/seniors as to what apparently curtailed last night! Yet be realistic, FRUSTRATION can reach levels that effect judgement! As someone said earlier in this post or another WHY has Providence had three different coaches over the past three years??????????? What do these coaches WANT? Well? They just WANT to coach baseball, period! They love the game with a passion moreso than most realize and know! It is in their blood since the days they were tots! They played themselves to a very high level! They JUST want to share their love/passion/experiences/knowledge of the game to kids! They are not making MEGABUCKS...the job i e esp over at Providence is THANKLESS to say the least... there is ABSOLUTeLY NOOOOOO support whatsoever or at least UP until THIS season... A frustrating end to a frustarating season with SOO many high hopes and expectations, just as was this the case last year from what I understand!??? It is TIME long overdue that someone speaks the REALLLLLLLLL truth or will it AGAIN be hush hush as to what is REALLLY the case over there!??????????

Well, I'm really confused now...what is the case over there?!?!?!?! When your refer to the school politics, are you referring to the parents as I am sure that Coach Hignight does not bend to parent pressure at all?!?
