I am ready to join Cary Post 67 for the first time this season on Friday night when we host Apex in a conference/rivalry game. I am excited. It will be my 4th ( ) and final summer of playing legion ball in Cary.

    Asheville post 70 - Hickory

Asheville defeated Hickory 1-0 behind solid pitching from rising Junior Blaine Howell (A.C. Reynolds) I don't have the stats, but I believe He scattered 4 hits over 9 innings, yes a complete game. Hickory also had some great pitching, but the breaks just went Post 70's way.

Post 70 plays at McDowell on Friday at 7:00pm for their next game. Most of the high schools in Buncombe County hold gradutaions this week.

Asheville is now 4-2 on the season, with wins over Greenville, SC, Rutherford Co., Taylorsville and Hickory. Losses to Burke Co. and a very strong Caldwell Co. team.

pineville seems to be weak in the pitching department. Kannapolis swung the bats well tonight, looks like they are coming alive!!!

    Kannapolis/Pineville

Well as a Kannapolis fan, I would just like to say that these 2 games with Pineville/Kannapolis were scheduled because both teams advanced to the state tournament last summer and it was seen as a great opportunity to play good competition in non-league games. Pineville won the first game 5-4 and Kannapolis won last night 6-1, so its a split. I don't think there's any reason to call the other team "weak" in any category, because I certainly don't see much "weak" on either roster.

I know some key Kannapolis players are still at the beach, but at the same time I'm sure both coaches are also still searching for steady lineups too, so either team can use all sorts of excuses if you want, but its simply still early. These games are played just to get you ready for the league games, thats all.

Obviously, Pineville is not weak at pitching, in fact they have an excellent team overall. But Kannapolis showed that they have an excellent team too. I actually expect both of these teams to win a lot of ballgames and advance far into the playoffs once again this year. Good Luck to both teams.
