im happy for my two fsu guys -- steven drew in the 1st to arizona and eddy martinez-esteve to the giants in the 2nd.

also, we here in tallahassee had a HS kid go in the 4th round -- joe bauserman. he's committed to ohio state on a football scholly (QB).

That was a little surprising...many picked Drew to go first. But even more surprising was the 1st selection, Matt Bush. The kid is a wonderfully talented HS player ss and he is from the San Diego area, but SD just promoted their 1st round pick, ss Tyler Greene, whom appears to have nailed down that position for years to come....go figure

    Former South Point Draftee

B.J. Richmond, Spartanburg Methodist, former South Point HS outfielder, was drafted in the 7th round by the Dodgers.

B.J. originally signed with South Carolina and was red shirted his freshman year (last year). He transferred to SMC over the summer in order to get playing time. Guess it worked!

That should give DodgerBlue someone to follow!

BJ Richmond is a heck of a player. We didn't get him out too many times it seemed like when we went down to SMC for a weekend series.

Day #2 looks to be dominated by College guys and DFE's from the HS ranks. I expect the JUCO's to be picked over pretty hard today.

It's interesting that Foxy's big-time recruiting class (Williams, Facchinei, Flack, Fronk) were all passed over. Nice article yesterday in the Hendersonville Times-News in which North Henderson Coach Scott Rhodes said he didn't think Williams would get drafted because he had the big-time scholarship as do the other three. Fronk is the best of the bunch in my opinion, and Flack has that bat -- AL DH potential? -- but I think Williams has all five tools and is probably better in the field than Flack (Fronk is definitely better than Flack at 3B, from seeing both at State Games last year, but Flack has a wicked slider on the mound). Facchinei's season was considerably disappointing. I saw him pitch last night, and McDowell hit him well. I hope he's only on a plateau and is not peaking already.

Thornburg has that baggage from Clemson, even though he supposedly took the fall for some star players. Think that would have hurt him?
