Here's what I can remember. SugarJet and others will have to help fill in the blanks.

    South Carolina 3
    North Carolina 1

    Players, college, starting positions

    Kyle Shelton-UNC-3B
    Daniel Hargrave-UNC-W-2B
    Benji Johnson-UNC
    Alex Sink-Georgia-DH for RF
    Josh Horton-UNC-SS
    Adam Deleo-UNC-G-C
    Jeff Hatcher-UNC-W
    Seth Williams-UNC-CF
    Chad Dawkins-undecided-RF
    Brett Bartles-Duke-LF
    Matt Payne-NCSU-starting pitcher
    Wes McCall-UNC-G-1B
    Jesse Lewter-Elon

This was a pitcher's ballgame, with only 10 total hits in 9 innings. NC had 4 hits and SC 6. NC squad made 4 costly errors and more than two baserunning mistakes. NC had several players in scoring position during the game, but could not push the runs across (except one).

Overall, I thought it was an exciting game to watch. You stayed on the edge of your seat expecting someone to hit a bomb or make a spectacular play. There were very fine athletes on both teams, but, NC should have won of course!

The SC roster did not list where the players had committed to play, but here's the players and their HS:

    Matt Arnold-Dutch Fork
    Andrew Crisp-Riverside
    Dustin Welch-East Clarendon
    Brandon Waring-Airport
    Dillon Owen-Chesterfield
    Spencer Derrick-A.C. Flora
    Craig Thomas-Lexington
    Brad Chalk-Riverside
    Gabe McCann-Laurens
    Trey Delk-Lugoff-Elgin
    Wynn Pelzer-Holly Hill-Roberts
    Matt Weiters-Stratford
    Chris Fidrych-Beaufort

Matt started the game and threw 3 innings. SC scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, but I can't remember any stats. Matt's parents were there an they probably know.

Matt stayed with me and SouthPaw on Saturday night after the game. Matt, Southpaw and Adam Deleo "cruised the strip" for a while. Matt's a fine young man and I enjoyed getting to know him a little better. Deleo will be going to UNC-G to catch for SouthPaw. Deleo has a hose to 2nd!
