Any high school fastpitch softball coach, head or assistant, interested in beocming a member of the North Carolina High School Fastpitch Coaches Association please send an email to [email protected]

I am trying to get this association started to become a unified voice for fastpitch coaches to the NCHSAA. I would like to get this association started and begin working on an all-star type game much like football, basketball, and soccer have in Greensboro at our annual coaching clinic in July. Please encourage all of your coaching contacts to consider joining this association. We need a voice much larger than our individual one when we have concerns and questions about our sport. I know an association can get an answer much quicker than a single coach calling the NCHSAA. If we all want the respect for the sport we love, it all begins here, with an association.

It is my intent to meet about this association this summer, in Greensboro, at the annual coaches clinic. I have been working dillignetly to pass the word around over the apst week or so. Thanks for any support you can provide.

I think this board is awesome. It seems to have more of a western flavor. I am going to inform some of my eastern friends about it. It is awesome!!!

Not being a coach but just a fan this is a great idea.
Fastpitch has been treated as a minor sport too long.

One rule that needs changing is tournament games all counting as games played unlike most other states counting games played in one day an only one. When a team goes to South Carolina for a tournament they can only play 4 games and cannot compete for the championship.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Rules and concerns just like this one are not commonly adressed by the NCHSAA becase there are only a few people talking about them.

When we form this organization and it represents much of the fastpitch coaching community, we can be heard and get some great things done for such an awesome sport.

    Thanks for your comments!!

definitely a western majority for the time being but folks quite like yourself have begun to get the word out to our friends and competetion down east. Thanks for passing along TBR Softball and we can make this association a powerful voice for our young female softball players for the years ahead.

Coach Wheeler, great idea and one that is long over due. Have you or would you consider allowing 16U & 18U summer/travel ball coaches become associate members of this association? As you may know, many of the girls play considerably more ball with their travel team coaches than with high school. I would think travel coaches could be a benefit and add varying perpspectives to the association. Just a thought. Thanks again for taking the lead on this. :xyzthumbs

Having the travel ball coaches involved as associate members would be a great idea. I think it is important to have the widest relam of ideas represented as possible. Since we are trying to form a voice to the NCHSAA, I am not sure that many would be interested in becoming members, those who do will definitely be welcome.
We need to form a better realtionship between high school and travel ball coaches. I see too many times these two groups working against each other instead of with each other. We should all be in the business for the girls, not ourselves, right?

i totally agree with you coach.........expect to your statement on how many travel coaches would be interested. imo, i think you would have just as many of them as you would hs coaches. tbr has alot of posters and lurkers who are travel ball coaches and hopefully they can be included and heard!

its the only reason this ole man does it............... :xyzthumbs

keep us posted Lin and the family and i enjoyed watching the CF team in the Finals!! :applause:

Thank you for your kind statements about our team. We have really worked hard over the last few years to become a contender in the region.

As to my statment about travel coaches, I was thinking since our main idea was to get things done with the high school association, they may not be interested. I would lvoe for them to become involved as associate members, many of you guys have years more experience than most of us do. For that, we can learn together!!!
