Statesville's head baseball coach, Brian Hightower, has taken the HC position at East Rowan.

I have heard that too! If this turns out to be true...what great news!! Coach Hardee will do a terrific job in Boone. I hope this is true....Hmmm...to really stoke the fires...I wonder if Coach Hignight is interested in coaching college ball.

App's baseball coach hasn't been named, yet. I'm sure Pete would greatly appreciate the congrats, though!

I understand the ball is in their court, but no matter what, I hope everything works out well. Pete Hardee is a wonderful coach and a class act and will have sucess no matter what he decides to do.

I met Coach Hardee for the first time this year at the Impact Baseball workouts back in early May at Watauga. I was impressed. He was a very personable and friendly individual (and his teams play great baseball also).

Has anyone heard if he did indeed get the ASU job?

I don't see a high school coach getting that job. Maybe his background is much better than that, as I am not sure if it is. I do know he is an alumnus and was a heck of a player, but being a great player doesn't make a great coach in the college ranks. Recruiting plays such a large role and I'm not sure if he has the contacts outside NC to make much of a splash in recruiting. If he does get the job I'm sure he will do all he can to make App a winner.

You make a valid point, but not many coaches at the college level are doing the initial contacts though. Certainly contacts are important, but most of the recruiting is done at the showcase levels where every recruiter is playing on a level playing field.

At that level, it is the ability of the recruiters to be "salesman of their schools" that determine their success in gaining quality players. If Coach Hardee decides to accept App State's position, I don't believe he will have any problem recruiting terrific players. He will have some difficulty recruiting pitchers, but that won't be because of him or anyone else coaching at ASU.
