Wossa, what is Greensboro's league record? I'm assuming 9-1 is their overall record, is that correct?

 

right - 10-1 now after Sunday nights game. I think they are 6-1 in the division. Their only loss was to Eastern Randolph.

 

Thanks Wossa. And btw, for more Area 3 news, Rowan County protested their recent loss to South Rowan and the Area 3 commissioner has apparently upheld their protest. I don't have all the details; however, I understand that Rowan is getting credit for another run and the game will be continued at a later date with the scored tied 10-10. This reversal leaves Rowan County with only 2 league losses and tied with Kannapolis for 1st place in the loss column. Tough break for South.

concord vs stanly was ppd due to rain yesterday, but will be made up today @ stanly at 7:15.............if it doesn't rain.............AGAIN

 

Rowan County won the protested game against South Rowan 11-10 in 11 innings.

South Rowan won the 2nd game 6-4 over Rowan County.

Kannapolis is now in 1st place with a 8-2 record.Rowan County has a 6-3 record and is currently in 2nd place.

 

i still dont understand the ruling with Rowan winning their appeal...

a force out is a force out....
if you catch a flyball for out 2.... and throw the ball to the base that the runner failed to tag up on its an automatic force for out 3 isnt it ?
it appears the same if you have a ground ball hit to an infielder and a double play is made for the 3rd out , the run crosses the plate prior to the 3rd out being made it still does not count...

i could see the run counting if there was an appeal made by the pitcher, because play would have stopped and the ball put back into play by the umpire prior to the pitcher stepping off, but the ball was immediatly thrown to the base for the 3rd out..

what rule would they have used to over turn this ? i just want to know out of curiosity, and i would have appealed to a higher commissioner if a rule was not shown to me ..

anyone know ?

There is NO force play if the batter is the first one called out.

 

ok, i see the point there...

the force was off , but all the infielder had to do was touch the bag and the 3rd out occured .
( FORCE OUT )

anyway, its a done deal.. We lost the game , but won the next one...

today was rained out , tomorrow we have K-town...

 

i've been hearing about this all week at the ball games......what exactly happened?

 

SR is ahead 10-9 with 1 out bases loaded bottom of 9th....
graham hits what appeared to be a walk-off grand slam, but it died at the very end... out Left fielder caught the ball for out #2.. the runner on 3rd was automattically tagging as your usually taught to do, the runner on second took off thinking it was a homerun... our left fielder throws the ball in and the infielder tags second base and the runner is ruled out,, out #3...

Rowan County then proceeds to take the field for the top of the 10th inning while SR is standing on the 3rd baseline waiting to shake hands ...after a few comments from the rowan coach umpires meet and determine the runner which was on 3rd , his run would not count . SR is declared the winner until the next day... it went thru an appeal and Rowan won .. and the end of the game was played before the second meeting yesterday...

I hope you can visualize this...
