Chapel Hill is at Wake Forest in the first game, so that would make WF 4, CH 5, and Benson 6.

Chapel Hill at Wake Forest was rained out, now scheduled for tonight at Wake Forest-Rolesville, Wed at Chapel Hill High, and if necessary Thur at WF-R.

    Last night:

    Garner 11
    Orange 4

Game 2 tonight @ Garner. Garner is my pick to make some noise in the Area 1 playoffs. They finally have all their players together and are playing good baseball.

    North Raleigh vs. Apex

North Raleigh beat Apex 12-11 in a nail biter last night. Pitchers for North Raleigh were Sam Brown for 5, Tanner Melton for 2 and BJ Dahl for 2. Pitchers for Apex were Justin Lilly for 3, Alan Deratt for 2 and I cannot remember their starting pitchers name.

Have not figured out how North Raleigh can play someone in their own conference. North Raleigh plays Apex at Apex tonight in game 2

If North Raleigh loses then game 3 will be played Thursday. Friday starts the next round which is the best 3 out of 5 and Tuesday starts round 3 with the best 3 out of 5 games. Therefore depth and strength of pitching is going to be critical

Wake Forest 6, Chapel Hill 2 - Game two tonight at Chapel Hill

I am also quite unsure of how the seedings and selection were done. Chapel Hill won a coin flip to get in(!?) - no playoff game. Apex had to win a play-in game to get in despite the fact they had a great record. My opinion is that having four team leagues within the conferences creates the potential for some imbalances.

    Garner moves on

    Garner 10
    Orange County 0

    wp- Leif Baker
    lp- Chris Andersen

    HR- Carver

    Garner sweeps series.

Western Conference had 3 divisions with 6 teams each. Top 3 made the playoffs. First place teams thrown into a hat and drawn, then 2nd, etc.

The system was definitely not foolproof. Central Division was the strongest with N. Raleigh, Wake Froest and Apex. N. Raleigh and Apex should not have had to play each other in the first round. Garner had to appeal the area commissioner's drawing to get in the playoffs. Western Division was probably the weakest division.

Eastern NC should get on the same format as Western NC.

Apex, North Raleigh, and Wake Forest came from the strongest of the three conferences. Cary, Lee County and Raleigh Post 1 were the three from that conference not to make the playoffs. Cary and Lee County are both good teams, Raleigh was the weakest but 5 of the 6 in that conference are strong.

Garner got a good bracket and they are my pick to win the Area 1 - West.

North Raleigh lost last night to Apex 9 to 3. The game was called at the top of the 6th due to weather. Back at North Raleigh tonight
