Does anyone have information on Western North Carolina 16 year old Babe Ruth tournament? Where? When it starts? Teams entered? ETC?

Eastern North Carolina starts Friday in Greenville.

cp, sorry I can't answer your question, but I have one for you. Are you the coach who helped with the Triple Crown 14u Team? If so, how do you see AAU, and jr. legion affecting Babe Ruth? Will Babe Ruth continue to be dominant in Greenville because of RV, or will the lure of jr. legion give some other kids a chance to play?

Yes I am one of the guys who helped with Triple Crown and to say the least that was a big disappointment. As long as RV is around and many of the others Greenville will be streictly Babe Ruth. They see what others are doing with the jr. legion and other teams that seem to be hurting the other programs not helping. For example just this week we watched as Conley ran players in and out of the 15 year old district tournament and jr. legion games.
They are spreading there players out to far. One of there players was pitching Babe Ruth one night and jr. legion the next. The junior legion programs are seen as select teams where the Greenville Babe Ruth allows more kids a chance to play. I can name many players that have come through the program that have helped Rose to state titles and conference championships that at early ages would have had no where to play. When it comes to the aau teams it once again is seen as spreading the kids out to much. In the past there where kids missing league games and practices for aau games etc. Keeping all the kids in house and playing babe ruth has contributed to the outstanding success of the Rose High program. I have been involved on both sides and unfortunatly have only seen the negatives of the aau side.

PLAYING BABE RUTH AND JR LEGION AFTER THE DATES THE OF THE ROSTER MAKES THE KIDS INELGIBLE. ENFORCEMENT OF THE RULES WOULD STOP THE STRAIN OF PLAYING ON THE KIDS BUT WOULD CAUSE THE PARENTS OR THE KIDS TO DECIDE WHICH TEAM TO PLAY FOR. SR LEGION DOES ENFORCE THE RULES WHEN IT IS BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION. AT LAST YEARS STATE TOURNAMENT KID WAS INELGIBLE FOR PARTICIPATING IN ORGANIZED SHOWCASE TEAM IN FLA. TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE STATE TOURNAMENT.

Makes the kid inelgible for what? We have a league rule in our senior babe ruth league 16-19 that does not allow dual particpation. But ever year we watch as other leagues bring there jr. legion / sr. legion / aau players to the
    state babe ruth tournaments.

BABE RUTH DOES ALLOW DUAL PARTICIPATION BUT NOT LEGION , PALOMINO, OR COLT. SOME LEAGUES ACTUALLY SANCTION THEIR TEAMS IN SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS AND PICK WHERE THEY CHOOSE TO GO TO THE PLAYOFFS.:nono:

As you stated babe ruth allows it but many cities or leagues elect to have a
local rule against the dual partipation. The coastal plain senior babe ruth league 16-19 has a rule once they dress for a legion game they are no longer eligible for cp league play. If dual partipation is against legion rules as you stated there are many downeast jr. legion programs breaking this.

ASK A LEGION ATHLETIC DIRECTOR NOT A COACH, MANY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE JUST NOT NOTED. WITH THIS BOARD AND OTHERS IT IS AMAZING TO SEE A KIDS NAME POP-UP FOR A WEEKEND TOUN OR BABE RUTH OR AAU AND THEN ON TO THE STATE PLAYOFFS FOR LEGION. UNDENIABLY MOST CAN SURVIVE BUT IT DOES WEAR THIN. THANKS FOR YOUR POSTS :xyzthumbs

CP, my son was asked on several occasions to play with TC, and from what I have heard, he would have benefitted from your coaching. However, knowing two of the individual dads involved, I chose to go elsewhere. The two guys have a track record of jumping around from team to team when they can't run the show. I've seen them do it on several occasions. I believe they also tried to get you to coach a jr. legion team. My son has benefitted from AAU, but he doesn't have the luxury of a good Babe Ruth type situation like Gville has. Good luck to you if you're coaching the 16u all-stars again.
