Alright boys and girls, its time to pick who and why.

I am going with Caldwell Co (geez, couldn't see that one comming). I realize they are a combined 1-3 against other tournament teams, but as of late the 29ers have been hitting the ball well and their pitching has been outstanding all year. Honestly, they have been 13-1 in the Area 4 playoffs, therefore, I feel they have to be the team to beat in the double elmination tournament.

DownSouth, I've been saying all year that Caldwell County was the best in Area IV, so I'm not going to disagree with you about how good Caldwell is. And I also realize that prior meetings don't mean very much; however Kannapolis is 5-0 against these tournament teams. Kannapolis did beat Caldwell twice during the regular season in 2 separate tournament championship games, although neither team pitched their best pitchers because they were in the middle of playing league games.

As for the recent playoffs, Kannapolis is 12-2 during the past 4 series and just swept the 2 best teams in Area III's Northern Division (Burlington and Greensboro) in which 5 of the 6 games weren't even close. Greensboro has great pitching and only allowed 68 runs all during the regular season; however, Kannapolis scored 36 runs on Greensboro in a 3 game sweep.

Yes, in a double elimination tournament anything can happen, factor in this long 9-day layoff and hot teams may cool some too. The Eastern teams will also surely be tough, and the host team Shelby has a great team too. But considering the experience on Kannapolis' team (now 2 state tourneys in a row), the depth at pitching, and the way they have been hitting 1-9 recently and putting up runs in bunches, I'm picking Ktown.

p.s. Hopefully the weather will cooperate too...

I will put my money on Kannapolis.
Hit very well 1-9 and when or if the hitting cools off they have very solid defense and pitching.

and Kannapolis has the Gene Benfield factor on their side also.

Garner Post 232 will "upset" Shelby on Wednesday night, and then go on to win the State Championship.

Garner is lead by Mark Carver (C, rising Redshirt-FR at UNCW), Leif Baker (RHP, rising redshirt-FR at Lenoir CC), Jeff Hatcher (RHP, rising FR at UNCW) and J.P. Primus (SS, rising FR at NC A&T).

Garner doesn't lose in the post-season. Great coaching staff that doesn't give up.

Don't overlook the boys from Garner.

My money goes on the guys from K-Town also. They play as a team and have great chemistry. They have a great mix of college and high school players and will have to be dealt with. Just 16 guys that gets the JOB done. GO K-TOWN Post 501. :applause:

Dont look over Pleasure Island, even though they are only made up of one High School they still have the pitching and hitting to win.

Key Players:Alex Silverman(rising FR @ Brown U), Zac Long (rising FR @ Davidson), Kyle Musselman (rising senior @Hoggard), Adam Deleo (rising FR @ UNCG), and Garrett Gore (rising Senior @ Hoggard-committed to UNC).

Catcher44, I can't speak for others, but I'm certainly not overlooking anybody. I can honestly see any of the remaining 8 teams winning this thing. At this point, it all comes down to who gets the best pitching, plays defense and hits. One loss, and the loser's bracket is a long road back.

I agree Pleasure Island is a very good team. I also believe the host team (Shelby) is going to do well too. Shelby has a very good team and they will have a huge crowd behind them.
