American Legion State Tourney

I heard from someone there that "Caldwell players were talking junk to one of the assistant coaches from Garner, and then players from Garner stepped in and it went from there". No fight, but just trash talking.

Don,t surpise me about Caldwell talking trash.. They did after the K-town game. Not only the players but there fans to.. Glad you lost Caldwell, Us folks in N.C, don't wont a tasteless club or fan base like yours representing us at the regionals..Most of us N.C folks aren't RED NECKS.. :applause: :applause:

 

I am sorry you feel that way. I know none of you guys have a reason to believe me but I will tell you all what happened in the final day of the American Legion state tournament.

At the conculsion of the game, Garner all ran to the mound to congratulate their eachother. The third base coach, #15 was his jersey number ran in front of the pile and flipped off the fans behind the dugout and the Caldwell players and coaches in front of the dugout. Caldwell, who just lost the state tournament, responded. Emotions ran high and I apologize...

Now, I could pitch a fit and moan about 5 or 10 things that happened in this tournament that were terrible. Umpires missed calls in several games. Garner had alcohol in thier rooms and the assistant manager of the hotel caught them with it. Fans across the board should be ashamed of some of the things said and done.

But I now ask that all that be put to rest, and look at the 100 positive things of this tournament. A very good Garner team is the state champions. Shelby put on a great tournament and great atomosphere from top to bottom starting with the banquet. Caldwell came within an eyelash of winning the state from the losers bracket and almost won 4 games in 26 hours of hot hot sun. Tons of money was won and given away in drawings and raffles. Someone I believe won a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. It was alot of fun.

All in all, great week of baseball and look forward to American Legion baseball next year.

 

Congrats to Garner. They were my pick to win it all ( and that was before the pounced all over Greensboro on Thursday ).

Sorry to hear about the fracas after the last game. Emotions run high in championship games.

Sorry I offended you coach.I never saw you act like the Caldwell Fans in all these years. Not saying you can't. Didn't know you were such a liberal..

Hey Downsouth ... while I hear what you are saying about emotions running high at the height of a defeat ... but how about the Caldwell PARENT ... not player ... who about defeating Kannapolis ... went up and down the hotel ... posting the team picture of Caldwell County on all the Wojan's players rooms. Really sad reflection on Caldwell because they played very well and hit the ball well.

Wojanfan, are you serious? Did that really happen, and if so how do you know it was a Caldwell fan that did it? Thats either a bad rumor, or the bottom of the "class" meter...
