Chaz Frank - Central Davidson HS - LH Hitter LH thrower - Outfielder. I got my first look at this young man when he played with the DB 08 team at Barton College a few weeks back. All I can say is "Pure hitter". This guy just constantly barrels the baseball. And to all fields consistently. He seems to never have a bad ab. He can flat out play the outfield folks. Runs well and has natural instincts on the baseball field. This kid plays all out all the time. I mean he gets after it hard. I love to watch this young man play the game. He is going to one of the best HS baseball players in the state of NC before its all said and done.

Chris Munnelly - Forsyth Country Day HS - RHP - Wow!!! Super quick arm. Tremendous stuff. He is an upper 80's guy already and bumps 90. He has a wicked curveball that just buckles hitters knees. This guy is real good. He is one of the better pitchers I have seen this fall regardless of grade. And he flat out competes on the hill. Great body at 6'2 160 lean and projectable. He is bigtime already.

Sean Pope - North Meck HS - RHP - 1B - At 6'1 210 lbs this kid is tremendous. He can flat out pitch. He has great velocity and can locate it. Very good offspeed arsenal and knows how to pitch. He breaks his hands early and gives the hitters a little bit of a different look than most pitchers present to hitters. I love watching this big boy bring it from the hill. Great poise and demeanor on the bumb and like Munnelly he loves to compete. He is going to be a pure stud.

These three young men will be highly sought after by college programs. They all three are outstanding young men and can flat out play the game. Its exciting to see the young guys that turn your head. These three guys definitely do that.

If you live in the area and you get the chance to see them play next spring you need to do it. They are going to special players.

You are so right about Chaz. He played for me for a couple years and even being young, was that kind of player.

Chaz is all in everyday too. I've watched him the past couple of Legion seasons. My highest compliment is that he reminds me of my son in this respect: he's all-in-everyday. Focused & ready to rumble. His upside is going to be fun to watch.

Let me toss out one of his Legion teammates: Alex Grubb (West Davidson). This kid is the best player nobody has heard of...a raw talent that someday is going to shock the world. Alex has the full package: size, left-hander, above average arm, good speed, and amazing amazing pop in his bat. Last June (before he took a mission trip that sent him into a season ending slump) everyone timed their bathroom breaks around "when is Alex up this inning?." He's still undeveloped because he's never played TravelBall.

    '09ers

I haven't seen a lot of really good '09ers that are worth mentioning but a couple that have stood out to me:

Blaze Tart, Durham Riverside: heck of an athlete that is very versatile and throws mid to upper 80's on the mound. His speed has improved greatly which makes him a 5-tool player.

Zach Bernard, Durham Jordan: lefty pitcher. is there anything else that can be said? He tops out at about 87 but has a great looping curveball and sinking change-up. Has an excelent arm from centerfield and can run down any ball in the outfield.

Eric Brady, Green Hope: got invited to tryout for the US Junior Olympics. Has a very steady glove and exceptionally range at shortstop. Has a great swing at the plate and can slap singles as well as lift the ball out of the ballpark.

P.S. an '10er to keep an eye on: Matt Roberts, Graham

Brian Goodwin at Rocky Mount. I saw him play and he woke this Dad up as to who is talented. He's in a different league.

    09's

    in NC are outstanding.

Levi Micheal North Davidson already verbals to UNC. This kid is one of the best players I have seen in years.

Tyler Joyner Northern Nash LHP oustanding pitcher upper 80's tough as nails. Already verbals to ECU.

Wil Myers Weslayan Christian , Pitcher Inf Of C whatever you need him to do. Fantastic player. Already verbals to USC.

Bryan Bass Northern Durham 2B what a player. The 09's version of Tyler Hanover. He hits from the left side and can go get it. Big time player.

Ben Fish Rocky Mount Catcher. The best 09 catcher I have seen this past spring summer and during the fall. Outstanding arm and can hit as well.

I could go on and on about the 09 class in NC. The SC Panthers have some outstanding 09's on their team. Batts , Schaffer (sp) and many more. The State of NC is loaded in the 09 class. In my opinion the 09 class will rival the 07 class in overall talent state wide.

Matt Graham is an outstanding catcher I have seen him a few times. Hes very very good.

Here is a tip for you guys. Adam Griffin 2011 West Forsyth HS. RHP. Stud. Super quick arm and can flat out bring it. This kid is going to be very very special.

I have seen Blaze Tart and he is very good. But he is not a five tool player. Not yet anyway. But he is very good and should really be good before his HS career is over.

Brian Goodwin - 5 tool player. Power big time , Speed (Big time), Hits for average (all day long) , Defense in CF does not get any better , Arm - Cannon. Invited to the East Coast Pro as a Soph. Started every game in CF ahead of guys already committed to major D1 schools. This kid is going to be a pretty high draft pick. He has already recieved offers from several major D-1 programs. Hopefully he will stay in state.

I would like to hear more about the Bernard kid from Jordan. 87 from the left side? Im surprised I have not heard of him. Any one else seen this young man pitch?

to add to adam griffin at west
they also have 2 very good lefthanders on the mound in the form of dustin myers and tyler coyle. both have 3 good pitches and can get it done. tyler also swings it from the left side and dustin can get it done on the right side of the plate. maybe others but this is about 09's

the first time i saw bernard pitch was in the first round of last year's state playoffs when he faced green hope as a sophomore. then, my estimate is that he was throwing 83, max. but he pitched 6 strong innings and changed speeds very well. a couple weeks ago i saw him pitch and he added a good 4-5 mph to his fastball. watch out for him this coming season. matt roberts from graham is an '10 but is worth mentioning because he is so at the plate and defensivly behind the plate
