#1 Butler Vs #2 South Caldwell

Dont see anybody beating SC in the playoffs. The best high school team NC has had in a long time. Probally since Trot Nixon played for Wilmington.

Hats off to SC....Shame Butler got off to such a start....Again, good win for SC and a tough loss for the Bulldogs...Would love to see a best 2 out of 3 to be convinced that they are player for player, the better team...I still don't see it...Not to dampen what they did tonight because they were awesome ....Smith was behind in the count and payed for it.....Good luck in the next round!

 

It will be difficult to find a team that has 2 pitchers better than Madison and Jimmy Messer. I agree that South Caldwell did a poor job on defensive execution and also base running. I've said all year long that we have to be smarter on the base pads but maybe that is the price you pay for being aggressive. SC always puts tremendous pressure on the other team's defense to make plays. They always try to test your arm.

I believe SC made 5 errors tonight and that probably is the season high. Of course when SC is crushing the ball the way they did tonight they have some room for error. It seems like the plays that South makes errors on are the simplier type plays. They can make some spectacular defensive plays that look almost impossible to make. Sometimes when Madison pitches it is easy to expect him to strike out everyone and when someone does make contact you are surprised.

 

Congrats to South for a big win and advancing. The game suprised me in several ways. Butler did a great job against Madison putting the ball in play. Much better than I expected not aking anything away from Butler but MB is generally very tough to score runs on. It also worried me win they didn't put the game away when they had the chance. The shocking thing is South is much better than they played last night and still beat a very good team

 

By far the worst game SC has played this year. We did hit the ball well but that was it. Should have ended the game in the 5th. We had a 10 run lead with 2 outs and nobody on. Then made 3 errors and let them score. I was real disappointed in our play. Severt needs to stop making mistakes on the bases over and over again and Craig needs to pick up his play and SC will be unstopable

It is a shame that some players only get credit when they make a mistake. Nobody seems to see all the plays that some of these guys have made in the past. I would really like to see you stand on 1st base, let Madison throw you a 100 mph fastball that was in the baseline with a baserunner breathing down your neck. I wonder how you would respond. I guess you didn't see the play that Craig made that the throw from 3rd was over his head, had to jump for the ball and then tag the runner to save an out. I guess you had your head turned on that one. Yes I agree we should have put them away in 5 innings but lets make sure we give some credit when these guys make some plays that save outs also. Also don't forget Madison did give up a 2 run homer. Whose to blame there?
