in reference to the curve beating "gold" teams.

the curve has a good team...i watched them play the columbia area "elite" in rockhill and they played a great game.....BUT having the word "gold" attached to the end of your name doesnt mean you are any batter than the light post. just because a team is from another state doesnt mean they play any better than a team from our state or yours.

we beat 2 "gold" teams at usc upstate but they laced their cleats the same way our girls laced theirs.

the "step out of NC' comment wasnt meant that you dont have any talent up there....just that you guys dont believe anything posted about any girl that doesnt live in mayberry. Hoover is legit....believe it or not and the fact that she will be able to go major D1 in softball or volleyball will not changed based on the disbelief of a few people that know more about the game than anoyone else....

Kinda sounds familiar - I didn't know what I was talking about then either?

Leslie Jury JL Mann High School SC also Carolina Crush 14U. I have clocked her myself at 66 mph. Leslie was a 8th grader during this past season.

I'm not trying to stir a pot but someone needs their gun adjusted, a 8th grader throwing 66 and a 11yr old throwing 61 WOW thats better than the states fastest pitcher chelsea leonard did at that age, she barely throws more than that now. I,m not saying it's not true but I and many more I believe will have to see it to believe it. Anybody out there seen a 8th grader throw 66 if so pardon me. Maybe I.m just

I guess sc girls must throw harder than nc girls, I do think I would have heard about these awsome and out of their league pitcher before now, anyway I'm done someone else will have to challenge this.

Charity Watson was throwing 65 in the summer of 2006 just after her 9th grade year. (On more than 1 gun) She played 16U after 8th grade year and 18U after 9th grade year for us. Believe what you want, makes no difference.

True there is a big difference

That number on Leslie was several years ago and has improved since.
Even 71 doesn't make you a pitcher it makes you a thrower. If you can put both together it would be special. I haven't personally clocked anyone at that speed but don't doubt it is possible. Heard at Gold Nationals last year Leslie hit 70 on their scoreboard and was the only player there that did that. Heard the Hoover hit 70 on a couple different guns but I haven't seen it for myself. Wouldn't doubt it though since the speeds I had was real early in the season and pretty close to that.
I have a kid that has to live on movement so you will have no problem convincing me you have to move the ball to be effective.

But I much rather have a upper 50's pitcher with movement than 66 mph fast ball..

Most used phrase from the dad whose dd throws in the upper 50's. Personally, Give me the gas, I will send her to pitching coach and teach her to develop other pitches.

If only it were that easy.

One thing for sure 50's doesn't start many arguments on the internet.

At the risk of.....well you know....cyber stoning.......

Was there not one of the Olympic team pitchers who worked on slowing down to get more movement? Somewhere in my fragile memory banks there is a bit of something along those lines. Can anybody fill in the blanks for me?

.....hhhhhmmmmm, ok, if you say so, I beleive you.
When I watched Miss Charity Watson, what a cool kid, she threw the ball very hard. She would pick up strike one with a fastball on the outside corner, then a riseball, that even Babe Ruth would swing at for a strike and then the killer was the inside on the hands pitch that the batter would take for strike three.
Now you can beleive me 56, although Charity was smokin down batter after batter, never once did she throw 65 in our games. Now, I'm not saying that she couldn't bring the heat, what I'm saying is that the way she pitched and her pitch selection may as well have been clocked at 90 as far as I'm concernered, because she got kids out!
    Props to Charity
