The visiting Braves (37-10) outhit the Catawba Indians (39-16) 16 – 6 on their way to a 10 – 3 win in Salisbury.

The Braves pounded out four round trippers, two by 1B Joe Magnum (3/4 with 3 rbi). Also sending baseballs over the fences were CF Josh Haley (3/5 with a dbl and 4 rbi) and DH Keith Whitman (2/5 with 2 rbi and is UNCP’s all time HR leader). Batting a perfect 4 for 4 (also scoring all 4 times!) was RF Brad Bridgman. Coming in at a 2/4 day at the plate was 2B Aaron Parnell.

Catawba was led by RF Ryan Bostian with a 2/4 day at the plate.

WP Brian Willis (6-3) pitched six innings allowing 2 ER. Closer Braxton Lewis (S8) pitched three scoreless innings. For the season Lewis has not allowed an ER in 36.1 innings.

In the latest NCAA D2 Southeast Regional polls used to seed teams for the regionals, Catawba came in at #2 while UNCP #6.

The Peach Belt must be one heck of a conference. UNCP is 37-10 overall and 13-10 in conference. They have rolled through their out of confernce games.
