Mama Duck, hows the girls doing? Did they win today?

 

AHHHHHHH!!!!!

No, we lost our first round bracket play last night 4 - 3 against the Austin Storm from Texas. Missy Wills hit a 3 run homerun but we were unable to score that final run to come back.

So we played our elimination game today at 10AM. We were tied 4 to 4 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Shay Sullivan was on first and Ellese Lawrence hit a single, Shay advances to second, as they are throwing at Ellese, Shay advances to third, they overthrow third trying to get the out, Shay heads home for the go ahead run, NJ Intensity Black catcher way out in front of plate without the ball. Shay slides in, collides with the catcher, she receives the ball and hits Shay under the face mask on the chin. Knocks Shay's head back, she is taken off the field on a back board, etc. Shay called out for the 3rd out of the bottom of the fifth inning. TERRIBLE call. Anyway, the Intensity scores again on a pass ball and we are unable to capitalize on having runners on second and third in the next 2 innings. Just did not go the way we needed it to the last 2 days.

The girls played well, everyone hitting well and making great plays. Still had tons of exposure even when we were playing in the loser's brackets. Great feeling to have some big D1 coaches agreeing that there were some bad calls made against your team.

Big thanks to Toni Ann & Tony Williford and Jennifer for coming with us. They were great. Have to post a link from the video of Tony and Ralph Weekly sitting on the picnic table talking watching our game yesterday afternoon. Don't know exactly what they were talking about, but at some point in time, Ralph probably heard the phrase. "You killin me, Bo!!"

Update

BTW, Shay is okay. Spent a couple of hours in the ER. X ray, CT, etc. showed some small swelling, but hopefully nothing major. She has been acting a little loopy because of the pain med, but then again, that is not entirely the medications fault. LOL. She will be back in action soon.

Good showing and lots of exposure for the team. Glad to hear that Shay is ok. Congratulations to all. You represented NC well in SD.

Don't knwo if they are standard, we actually got 2 long uniforms this year and the girls seem to love em. LOTS of team wearing them though. I will try to get some more pics posted. Lots of trees around the park, Some of our members went out to Mt. Rushmore and the badlands, I will get some of them up soon.
