Our summer team (Watauga High) got left out of the festivities this weekend when one tournament we tried to enter didn't make and another tournament, after promising us a spot, waited till the last minute to change their mind and tell us there's no room in the inn. :teeth:

So we are looking for some games. A Sunday doubleheader in beautiful Boone, anyone? We have a great facility here. There will be no entry fee. We'll provide umps and balls too -- just need a team to come here and maybe spend some dough at the concession stand.

Give me some way to contact you thru a private message or a post here and we can try to get something together. Need to know by Thursday at noon to line it all up.

    Thanks!

I do know that West Henderson and the Hurricanes are both in Johnson City this weekend and West Henderson is in Anderson, SC the following weekend.

    Yup

I wanted to jump on the JC tourney -- but another team got left out of the tourney we wanted to go to in NC, and we're going to play them Saturday -- so we couldn't. Wish we could get 4 games in though -- still haven't found a Sunday taker and it may be too late to secure umps.

West Henderson has 39 games scheduled from 6/3-7/9. Can't hardly fit anymore in. May add a few later in July though.

Bubba - West Henderson defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 today to take 3rd in the tournament at Johnson City. Rising sophmore Matthew Pruitt got the win and rising sophmore catcher Luke Smithson hit a bomb in the game. Adams took the loss for the Hurricanes. Other teams in the tournament were, Chapel Hill Panthers (Douglasville GA), Pro Concepts (Jefferson City TN), APAK Sports (Memphis TN), and WNC Raiders (kids from Swain, Hayesville, and Franklin).

    Congrats

Congrats, Mudcat, on the solid result.

We ended up getting 1/2 of a doubleheader in with West Iredell. We won 10-9 in a dreary rainfest that was tough on pitchers -- a lot of walks and hard to throw anything but fastballs in the rain. Ryan Anderson allowed one run in five innings and it looked like we'd cruise, but the bullpen coughed up the lead and we had to rally in the bottom of the seventh. We scrapped the second half of the twinbill because the weather was just too crappy to continue.

Let us know if you ever want to come up and play. We have a USSSA tournament the second weekend of July that might still have a few openings. And we'd love to have a team come up for a weeknight twinbill -- maybe with 4 and 6:30 starts? We also have the last weekend in June open, but we might have a few guys out of town. Keep in touch.
