Canes North weekend game notes

G1 vs. Heat Black
Mitch Moynihan strikes out 8 in 6 innings.

G2 vs. Muckdawgs
Shane Johnsonbaugh throws 5 strong innings.

Josh Henderson goes 2-3 with a double and a triple.

Connor Henderson 2-3 with double and walk off BOMB over the hill in LF at ECU.

G3 vs. GBC
Connor Henderson threw 3 innings of no-hit ball.

G4 vs. Hitter's Warehouse 16's
Joe Lane throws 5 strong innings.

Quarters vs. LI Storm
Josh Sborz is 2-3 and Christian Younce is 1-3 with a great diving play on a foulball from his catcher's position.

Semis vs. Tidewater Drillers
Best play I have seen in all my years of youth baseball by Drillers CF - Jordan Sargent. In an 0-0 game in the 6th, Kyle Moore hits deep ball to CF and Sargent dives over the fence to catch it for an out. 2 pitches later, Brandon Lowe goes yard.

Stephen Godfrey scatters 8 hits for 6 innings of shutout baseball.

Nick Grant comes into close for the Canes and touches 92FB and 81SL.

Finals vs. Muckdawgs
Josh Sborz, UVA commit, doesn't have his best stuff but is effective through 4 innings with only 1 run.

Josh Henderson was 2-4 with double to LCF and hard single.

Christian Younce is 2-3 with double off the LF wall and triple to RCF.

Nick Grant hits a walkoff 2 run HR to DEEP LCF.


All in all it was a total team effort with 10 pitchers contributing and all Canes players getting at least 2 hits.

Footnote: Christian Younce caught all 7 games for us, throwing out all 5 runners that attempted to steal and going 7-15 at the plate.

Great job on this Stretchy. Obviously, it's been a popular thread. The funny thing is the thread "hits' only show the members that have read it. It doesn't include all the "guests", which make up 65% of the readers.

Great Coverage

A lot of games, great coverage - what a tournament. It was nice to finally see some of the names I had been reading about in the eastern part of the baseball world. Even got to drive by the infamous Elm Street Park - where the Little Leaguer's were holding the opening ceremony for the 11 Year Old Tournament of Champions.
