Does anyone know who won this event?

We lost out late Saturday night, and I am curious who took home the berth. Wildcats were still undefeated as were the Carolina Flames...among others.

Did NC lock up the berth?

Results and a BIG Thank You!

The Carolina Wildcats went undefeated in double elimination winning the 18U. The Carolina Cobras won the 16U division and the Carolina Cardinals won the 23U.
It was a fantastic weekend of ball with exceptional weather and very high quality teams. Thanks go out to all who participated.

..the 23u event was not about winning or losing, it was about putting some cool talented college players on all-star teams and having fun. That they did!
The last game was sooooooo cool, tied 4-4, hot as hell, and July 4th in our ear,the umps, Charlie, and Mark, and the other Cardinals coach, sorry brother, don't know your name but you were part of a classy move and the best for all of our players...they agreed to be co-champs.
Props to Tony Wright and his team as well!

These kids had lots of fun and the parents and coaches respected the concerns of their players college coaches to not put them in harms way.

The kids played hard and the coaches made sure that they were safe.

    Nice tourney Rick!

So it ended in a tie? Cardinals didn't win it?

How many 23U teams were there?

    Tiebreaker

The 23s had a great time from what I've heard. I wish we could do more of that. It is a way for those kids to play without all the pressure they usually play under.
We had plaques for the winner and runner up. We determined a winner. We went to the old "runs given up" tiebreaker. Charlie and Mark both agreed to break the tie that way.
In the grand scheme of things, it's all about playing to stay tuned up a bit and having a good time.
I appreciate the kids coming out.

    ok

The games were played with time limits. When the bell rang, we were tied
4-4. Both teams were down to 10 players, and had no pitching left after playing 5 games in the heat.....

In honor of the World Cup, we called it a draw....

The Cardinals were awarded the first place plaque based on runs against on the final day... They won their first game against the SC Elite, 2-0, we beat the Grand Slam Blue team, 7-1.... It is all about getting them playing time... See attached pic..... Some of NC softballs finest!!

I was there to watch my daughter play 16U. However, I will say i watched 3 23U games and was amazed at the talent level of these girls. It would be nice to have them at these tourneys just to be able to watch.

Sounds like they had a great time! That's the way to compete--no pressure except the pressure of friendly competition! And still have a winner, of course!

Now, if someone would put a caption with the names of the players under that picture ... the older I get the harder they are to recognize. The player on the right, by the way, is not ready to quit; she still has her glove on!
