We had a pass interferance call against us in the first half on an interception that was clearly wrong. The DB was beaten on the play but the ball was under thrown and he was able to make a clean pick with NO contact. The ensuing result was a first down and subsequent touchdown on the same drive. In my opinion it was a make-up call from the play before where our DB and their WR met at the arrival of the ball. But both plays occured just in front of the home teams bench (and crowd) and the Piedmont coaches were all over the ref for the first one. The last and most crucial was an offensive pass interferance that was not called. Their TE used an arm bar to gain distance from the DB (while the ball was in flight) and when the DB tried to fight through it HE was flagged. But the pass was caught for the winning score. Game over. This one does'nt really surprise me all that much as most high school refs rarely, if ever call offensive pass interferance. But, you get that kind of stuff on the road, and you tend to remember it more when you lose. Piedmont played us tough and Jester is an outstanding football coach. The game was a classic.

I was willing to bet those exact plays were the ones you had in mind. I saw both the same way. I did think the 2nd pass interference was legit...
On the game winner, the official was at just an angle that he might not have seen the push off. I saw the right arm go out and I just froze waiting for the flag. What was remarkable was that after the spin, the ball seemed to just land in his left hand.

I will say, how about the first series fumble ruled "down" when the runner never went down....that one had me puzzled.

Anyway, it was a good game, and as one of your fans said, "Ireally wasnt looking foward to going to Crest anyway."
