    West and RS

Went to watch West Henderson and RS Central this saturday. I thought both teams looked very good this early in. Didn't know alot of the young men's names, but will hit on some highlights.

RS Central: Arrowood threw 2 or 3, and gave up 1 hit to Casey Allison. Arrowood also went long ball leading off the game. He is an impressive player. Willie Henderson threw 1 inning and looked very good on the mound. He hit the ball well, and doubled off the CF wall.

West Henderson: Josh Moore went yard to CF. Young lefty pitcher was pretty good when he settled in. Casey Allison had 1 or 2 hits. Big 1st baseman had a nice stroke.

Everybody should play at West Henderson one time. Man it is a high school facility to behold!

Braves just so you know, Mudcat was working the whole time with a paint brush in hand. :sweatdrop:

    Re: South Granville at Knightdale

I missed the first few innings due to other commitments but from what I was told:
    Cameron Richards - 1 inning
    Taylor Sexton - 3 innings
    David Gill - 2 innings
    Nathan Smith - 1 inning (2K, 2BB, 1 Hit)
    Michael Green - 1 inning
    Tyler Frizelle - 1 inning

Sorry I do not have better statistics - obviously I know what my son did. At the plate, Nathan was 0-2, 1 BB. He hit a screamer up the first baseline his last at bat - bases loaded 2 outs; and South Granville's first-baseman mad a helluva play on it to end the inning.

Observations: South Granville is better than advertised. Knightdale lacks offensive production.

    Coach Mills

Coach Mills is one of the best coachs in the state, I do feel like he did treat us a little unfair but hey with the stress of an upcoming season he has to have a lot on his mind, I just wish you guys would have let us jump in with you and knightdale coach 27, any reason why you chose not to?

Befoe anybody gets too caught up in scimmage scores and trying to analyze your team based on this, I would like to tell you a story. South Meck was a pre-season favorite to win the State Championship. They played Independence HS in a scrimmage game beating Indy 25-2. After beating Indy they took from that scrimmage a false impression in how good they were. They forgot it took more than to just show up....speed up to the playoffs....South Meck met Indy again in the playoffs. Indy won 8-7 in extra innings and advanced to the 4A State Championship.

My point being, don't get caught up or read into any of the scrimmage scores. You are not that good and you are not that bad.

We had an intra squad yesterday. Tons of fun, lots of excitement, it's great baseball season is here. Can't say much about the players but pitching looked pretty good.

Ragsdale hosts a very talented Western Alamance on Tuesday.

No one said a word to me

If I had known you guys wanted to jump in I would have been all for it. Was Coach Ferrell asked about you guys jumping in? If so he never said anything to me about it. Sorry it didnt work out for you guys I know you are ready to play someone else.

    Not Coach 27's Fault

From what I overheard yesterday, while one of the Knightdale Assistant Coaches (Coach Moore) wanted to do it, the head Coach did not want a 3-way because their field was not completely ready.

Also, as a follow-up to the Broughton intra-squad scrimmage, the highlight of the day was a 6-4-3-2 triple play.

    scrimmage

Pine Forest played two games Sat. One against Pinecrest and also against Jack Britt. Thought we looked good in most areas. Hit the ball really hard and forced a lot of rushed plays by defenders. One of our coaches set a goal of fifteen stolen bases and I think we ended up with sixteen or seventeen total. Umpiring was decent if not a little rusty. Looking forward to the start of the regular season.
