Nash County's 13 and 14 year old All Star teams are in the Babe Ruth World Series. The 13 year olds, playing in Van Buren,Arkansas, have already started and went 3-1 in pool play. They advanced to the championship bracket and are still alive in hopes of winning the world series.

The 14 year olds begin Saturday,August,21.They will be playing at Fleming Stadium in Wilson,NC.They made this tournement by winning the eastern NC state championship, which means they are the state host.

North Carolina is being well-represented by all of these teams.

Can anyone put together a list of all the accomplishments that NC teams have had on a regional/national level this year? Seems like there has been more this year than in the past.... from little league up to the college level.

    Awesome year... Good luck everyone.

NC teams have done well for many years, but didn't get as much attention for it. Thanks to our mighty moderators, we have a forum to get information instead of relying on the Observer, which can't carry information about every team in Little League, AAU, AABC, USSSA Babe Ruth, Legion, etc.

NC has produced national champions in AAU & USSSA; several final four teams in AAU, and regional champions in AABC and Little League, as well as 3rd place at Perfect Game. (I'm sure I've omitted something.)Morganton wasn't the first NC team to make it to Williamsport. Greensboro made it all the way to the finals in 1998. Finally NC players are getting the attention they deserve.

    ....some more...

those who aren t familiar with NC baseball down "east" and around the coast!
Since 1976, Columbus County Dixie Boys teams have competed in 19 World Series events, finishing runnerup three times and coming in third three other times. Generally, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana and Texas have the strongest teams in Dixie Boys World Series play, but Columbus County teams have long been able to hold their own against these states.

Columbus County Dixie Boys 13-year-old All-Star team that won its state championship but finished out of World Series bracket play in South Carolina after winning two of its three games in qualifying pool play.

Because of the qualifying format in this year’s 13-year-old World Series, North Carolina was one of three states that did not have an entry in World Series play. It was only three years ago that a team from Columbus County won the Dixie Boys 13 World Series.

Slight mistake by Gatorfan. Greenville NC went to Williamsport in 1998. They finished second in the US, losing to Toms River NJ. They whipped Canada in the 3rd place game.

Some of these kids were seniors on the JH Rose 4A state championship team this past year.

I dont think Dixie baseball , be it dixie youth or Dixie Boys , play a true world series or national series. I think its only played in 16 to 18 states last i recall.

Nothiing wrong with that though, its still good competition.

Didn't Greenville play Tom's River in the final? I loved watching that series. Greenville did great.
