There are some talented kids playing in the Charlotte area have flown under the collegiate radar. Brett Nyenhuis the switch hitting second baseman from Audrey Kell and Brad Collins (1B/3b) from Weddington.

Nyenhuis is a senior. It baffles me why no college has taken this kid. He won't dazzle you with any of his tools but he gets it done. This a player that has to be watched over a period of time to appreciate. Solid is the word that would describe his play. There are athletes who try and play baseball and then there are guys who are just baseball players, Nyenhuis is a baseball player. This kid works hard on his game and I hope he gets the opportunity to play at the next level.

Anyone who has seen Brad Collins field his position (1B) is amazed how smooth and sure handed he is. He hit two bombs tonight against Fort Mill. At 6'2" 220 lbs the boy can run. Great feet around the bag. My guess is he won't be flying under the radar much longer. Brad will land at a D1 program.

Keep eyes on Audrey Kell sophmore Alex Baker.

    2 other sleepers....

Micah Jarrett- center fielder, 6.6 sixty, cannon for an arm, and hits third for a powerful East Rowan lineup. Flat swing that smokes line drives all over the field.

Trey Holmes- LHP who is in the low 80's. very good change up, and 2 different types of breaking balls. missed last year on the mound with a injured arm from sliding. Will be good to go this year. about 6'1'' or 6'2'' 170 pounds. Good athlete- 6.8 sixty with a good bat and glove at first base.

I imagine Catawba will be putting on a full court press soon. They never want to lose anybody from Rowan County.
