    Olympic-Hopewell Game

    Olympic 6, Hopewell 5

    WP - Hovis
    LP - White

Close game that could have gone either way - Hopewell had chance in bottom of 7th to tie and win, but didn't generate that last hit to get either runner home, leaving runners at 1st & 3rd to end the game. Both starting pitchers were effective - although they scattered several hits over the first four innings they pitched, they also were able to get several double plays to get them out of jams. Each team had 2 errors....although the errors for Hopewell were more costly in allowing Olympic to score unearned runs. Closing pitchers Staton (O) and Stage (H) did a good job. Clapham hit the ball well for Olympic. For Hopewell, Ben Beard had a 3 run homerun; Dusty White went 2-4, RBI.

Hopewell has an impressive group of hitters, but in my opinion, Ben Beard, Dan Woodall and Dusty White are the "Murder's Row" of any lineup in Charlotte. Dusty White is going to be something special!
