    W. STANLY 9, PIEDMONT 5

    W. Stanly 002 042 1 -- 9 9 0
    Piedmont 002 110 1 -- 5 7 3

    WP: Ryan Thorpe (2-0). LP: Rape. Leading hitters--WS: Ryan Thorpe 2-4, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs, Andy Helms 3-3, 2B, 3B, 3 RBIs; P: Parker 2-3, HR.

Most of the discussions on this board are dominated by 3A and 4A schools but this West Stanly team is for real. Piedmont has not thrown their best pitchers at them but W. Stanly has really killed the ball. There pitching has been solid even though Piedmont is probably seeing only their 3rd or 4th pitcher.

Brian Parker, who had a HR, has come from deep off the bench over the last 4 ball games to give Piedmont some timely hitting.

The Waddell @ Buter game scheduled earlier in the week for 3/30 was not able to be played on 4/1 due to not being able to get umpires as everyone else had rescheduled games going on and this game has not yet been rescheduled as yet.

    Hopewell 5 -- West Meck 0

WP - Jared Keesee, LP - Dillon Cyr

Jared Keesee pitched well for the Titans, striking out 15. Dan Woodall's bat stayed hot as he went 3-3, RBI.

    Ragsdale 2 Eastern Randolph 1 (9 innings)

What a great game. Which could have been more enjoyable in better weather. Freezing cold and very windy the whole game. I took my kids and you never heard so much whining and complaining. They finally told me to be quiet so I had to pipe down.

Ryan Kirkman pitched 8 no hit innings for Eastern Randolph. Ragsdale had no answer for him tonight. I missed most of the first inning but apparently Ragsdale got a run in the first on an error. Chad Baker pitched for Ragsdale and gave up six hits in six innings, all but one a single. ER tied it up in the fifth on a one out squeeze bunt.

Ricky Payne, Ragsdale's catcher crushed the first pitch in the 7th to deep center field but the dang wind kept it in the park. I was so exited when he hit it because I was ready to get out of the cold :p But I had to freeze through two more innings.

Ragsdale sophomore Trevor Mullins ( remember this name people ) pitched 3 innings of no hit relief for the win. This kid was smoking every batter. They had him throwing 86 mph on his fastball.

Alex Sink led off the 9th with a double and two batters later Ricky Payne crushed a line drive to the wall for the game winning hit. Ragsdale finally got some offense going once they got Kirkman out of the game. Huge win for The Tigers against a very good Eastern Randolph team. :xyzthumbs

    South Meck 5
    Myers Park 2 -- 8 innings

WP- Jonathan Ratledge...pitched all 8 innings

What a terrific game between both teams. Ratledge and Gant Bowman (MP) locked up in a pitchers duel. It was 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, MP trailing 2-1, when Flowers (ss) for MP hit a HR to tie it.

Top of the 8th, Wes Borden, hit a 3 run homer, (his first ever) to put SM ahead and Ratledge finished the game in the bottom half to win his 4th game of the season.

South Meck's bats need to get going as they face a showdown with Providence Tuesday for the conference lead. This game will be huge as always...with a big crowd and an intense atmosphere. High School baseball does not get much better then this ( Wautaga vs Alex. Central is another one) as Alex Martin and TJ Worrell will be pitching and Hal Bagwell and his best friend, Danny Hignight, go up against each other for the 1st time.

To add to the atmosphere will be several scouts and Impact's Andy Partin. Should be a great game!!!!

WP: Michael Bogaert-Threw a No-No! Was one pitch from a perfect game. With an 0-2 count, Bogaert let one pitch get away and hit the batter...the only player to reach base.

Monday, Ashbrook hosts Charlotte Christian. Don't know who'll pitch for Ashbrook, with conference games on Tuesday and Thursday.
