    South Piedmont Conference

    Sun Valley - 2 (9-2, 4-2)
    Concord - 1

    WP - Lee Blalock (4-0), 18ks, 2 BBs, 2 hits
    LP - Tripper Newsome

    Leading Hitters

    Sun Valley

    A. Tillman 1-2, 2b, GW rbi
    D. Laney 1-3, 2b, rbi
    L. Blalock 2-3

    Concord

    J. Rooks 1-3, HR

Pitchers duel! Blalock with 18ks, besides the HR, the only other hit was a popup that the wind blew back in the infield. I was very impressed with the Newsome kid. Game was very emotional and also had some controversy.

    JM ROBINSON--5
    WEDDINGTON--4
    9 INNINGS

    WP:McATEER
    LP:SAIN

McATEER GOT THE WIN FOR ROBINSON, BUT MOST OF THE PITCHING WAS DONE BY BENSON. HE PITCHED 7 INNINGS AND GAVE UP ONLY ONE RUN GOING INTO THE 7TH, THEN WEDDINGTONS LEAD OFF MAN HIT A 3 RUN HR TO TIE THE GAME, AND AFTER THAT BENSON GOT THE NEXT BATTER TO POP OUT TO END THE 7TH AND HIS DAY. BENSON FINISHED THE GAME 7IP, 4 R, 11 K'S, 3BB'S. IN THE 9TH JAMES HOLMES LEAD OFF WITH A DOUBLE, AND THEN WAS SAC BUNTED TO 3RD. GREG MICLAT HAD THE GAME WINNING HIT DOWN THE 1ST BASE LINE. THIS IS WEDDINGTONS 1ST CONF. LOSS AND WILL ALLOW ROBINSON AND SUN VALLEY TO GET BACK IN THE HUNT FOR 1ST.

Hey Nuff Ced---can you pick a game of the week and give us some details of the game. I love hearing about the Easterners and how they are doing....and is anybody going to beat Hoggard this year?

Ragsdale is now 9-2 and 5-1 in the conference. They have won 7 in a row now with some big wins in there against Greenbriar, Rose and now ER. Considering they lost Wes Wrenn to transfer and Kunta Hicks to graduation I have been very pleased with the Tiger pitching. Chad Baker and Jake Kensmoe are looking good and this Mullins kid is something else. I can't wait to see him throwing touchdown bombs on the gridiron next fall.

Here is a score from earlier in the week

    Ragsdale 8
    Asheboro 4
    WP - Jake Kensmoe
    LP - Ryan Cockerham

and one more Ragsdale kudos out to Athletic Director Mike Raybon who was just named AD of the year by the NC Athletics Directors Association. Raybon was one of the best wrestling coaches around before he hung it up to be the AD. :applause:
