    Ashbrook Clinches Big South 3A

    Ashbrook (17-3, 11-0) 4
    East Gaston (14-6, 8-3) 1

    WP: Gibson (5-2), 2h, 8k, 2bb, 1er
    LP: Sanchez
    HR: Harris(5), Asis(7)

Ashbrook clinched 1st place in the Big South with the win over East Gaston behind a strong pitching performance by Clay Gibson. Even if Ashbrook were to lose their final three conference games (hopefully not) they would hold the tie-breaker over East Gaston, having defeated the Warriors twice in the conference. Ashbrook's focus now is to complete the conference season undefeated.

Tonight, Ashbrook plays at Burns, a makeup game from the rainout on 3/31. I believe Michael Bogart will take the hill for Ashbrook.

    North Meck 5 Independence 1

I really don't like to post on the game since I do have some personal interest but I thought it was a very well played game by two very good teams. The score was Indy 1 North Meck 0 until the top of the sixth. Some timely hitting by North Meck and miscues on the part of Independence allowed North Meck to open it up. Very similar to their last meeting when Indy won. Both pitchers were impressive. Indy was able to get two on with no outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't push any runs accross. Although the score ended 5-1, the game was very tight throughout. My hats off to both teams in a very well played game. I enjoyed watching it but would have enjoyed it much more with an Indy win!

Thanks Indy Dad for the capsule...I wish you would post more often. For a team ranked 4th in the State and it would be nice for our members to know more about them.
