I didn't go but my daughter called me with the score. Ragsdale wins the Tri-County 3A with a record of 12-2 , 19-3 overall on the season. On to the conference tourney at Asheboro next week.

Waddell beat East 5-3 (I think that was the score); Butler beat Myers Park 6-2; last report Providence and South were tied 3-3 in the 8th!

Indy beats Vance 8-0 in a close game

It was 1-0 after 6 so it was a very close game. Vance made some great plays on well hit balls by Indy.
    WP - R. Bray 9-0

    Piedmont @ Kannapolis Brown

    Piedmont 1 Kannapolis 0

Great game. Morgan Tyson pitched 3 innings and Tim King pitched the final 4 innings for Piedmont. They only gave up three hits and struck out 14 batters. The only real jam was Kannapolis loaded the bases in the 6th with two outs but King struck out the final batter. Tim struck out the side in the 7th.

Piedmont's run scored in the 5th. Danny Hermann drew a no out walk and Tyson hit a double to the gap in left center scoring Hermann. Scott Estes also had a double in the 3rd. Piedmont also only had three hits.

There has been a lot of talk about the SPC being down this year but Piedmont is 3-1 against the NPC and Robinson has beaten West Rowan.

Piedmont got the 3rd seed by coin flip today and will play Anson next Tuesday at 4:30 at Parkwood.

    Piedmont 1

Saw lots of good pitching tonight, with Tyson and King for Piedmont versus Sherrill and Mead for Kannapolis. Piedmont scored on a double by Tyson off Sherrill in the 4th. Tyson started for Piedmont with King relieving him in the 4th or 5th, while Sherrill pitched the first 5 for Kannapolis before giving way to Mead. Both teams got good work from their studs in preparation for their respective conference tournaments. Kannapolis closes out the regular season with a prospective 1st round playoff preview against JM Robinson tomorrow at JMR, 5pm start.

So South falls to 13-1 in the conference, Providence finishes 2nd at 10-4 and Myers Park is third at 9-5. East is 4th at 8-6.

Congratulations to Providence for gutting out a huge win after a tough stretch. I hear Kevin Deitrich hit a 3-run bomb tonight -- good for him on senior night.

I also hear Coach Bagwell and Coach Hignight really got after each other and almost got tossed. Can't wait to hear about that one.

Any word on the condition of the South Meck catcher? He left the game after being slid into by the Providence catcher on a first and third double steal in the 2nd or 3rd inning. He was spiked in the upper left thigh or the knee and had to be assisted off the field. The incident caused quite a reaction from the South Meck coach and fans. Fortunately everyone cooled down soon after and the kids just played baseball.

Who were the pitchers? #11 for Providence and #22 for South Meck? I don't know the players and the people I was standing next to didn't know them either.

Who is the South Meck shortstop? He made a sweet sliding backhand stop in the hole with a very quick release to first to get the runner. A very athletic play.
