The process is now complete with the All-State selections in all 4 classifications. The All-State teams may now be viewed at the website. Go to www.ncfastpitch.org and click on the link to the left that reads All-State. Congratulations to all the ladies selected and also to the ones who were listed as Honorable Mention. Special thanks to the Executive Board members who worked so hard to make this undertaking a reality.

    Congratulations Ladies,

    Criteria

The most important criteria for being considered for the selection was to be nominated. Coaches throughout the State were given an opportunity to nominate players for two weeks. Members of the Association could nominate directly. Other could nominate through Regional Representatives or friends who were members of the Association. Stats, honors, and awards were condsidered by the Executive Board and a list was created accordingly. Then, Executive Board members were asked to vote for players that they felt were deserving of All-State recognition from the nomination list. The votes were tabulated and the results are posted on the NCFSCA website. That is how the 2005 All-State Team was produced by our Association. I hope this explanation sheds some light on the process.

    One other quick question

So if a coach did not nominate a player, then they were not even considered? Some coaches are not as diligent about that. Just wondering.

Just a couple of notes on the All State list...

Melody Harrell is listed as a Senior in the Spring of 05 and she was a Junior.

Nicole Springer was a Junior last Spring as well but listed as a Senior.

I believe Anna Dellapenta was a Sophmore last spring and a Junior this year.. I could be wrong about that one...

The biggest mistake of all is Emily Ivey from SW Randolph... She graduated in 2004 .. I don't know who nominated her...

Over all Great job... all the girls should be congratulated... I am sad to see a previous post be negative... just goes to show some people don't know how to be positive and will always complain.

Hats off to the Coaches Association considering what they were working with...

    Answers to some questions...NCFSCA

One of the biggest problems that we had in our selections was getting the coaches to understand that the All-State team we were producing was for last season, 2005. Because of that, in putting the young ladies class on the nomination form, coaches put what grade they were in this year. Choosing the All-State team proved to be a monumental task to say the least. We went through the information that was submitted to us and tried to do the best we could. I know some of the confusion came because it took so long to produce a list from the 2005 season. Our Association stepped up to the plate and decided to try and recognize these young ladies for the outstanding seasons they had. Others had declined to do so, and we took the opportunity. Our Association was not prepared to produce an All-State Team, but give our group credit for recognizing over 100 young ladies for their efforts. The list could be better I'm sure. I don't believe anyone on our Executive Board would say we did a perfect job, but we did do it, and we are proud to recognize these ladies. The question about coaches not nominating players, I guess all I can say is the coach at that school did not seize the day. And you are right, some coaches are more diligent than others, and some work hard, and some draw a paycheck, and some win Championships, and others are late for practice and the list could go on and on. Bottom line is the All-State team for 2005 has been selected and we are proud to have been a part of it. Our next goal is to attend the NCHSAA Winter meeting and present ideas for consideration to that group. Hopefully we can be that voice for change in the State. We will continue our mission to be a unified voice for Softball in our State.

    All-State

Shortstop5, if you read the whole post you'll see I congratulated the girls at least the ones who deserve it.I saw names that I feel are not All-State players,& I did not see some names that I feel should have been there. My definition of an All-State player would be one who can hit, run, throw, play defense,& have a good head for the game, aside from pitchers who do not hit.I have total respect for the girls who play this great game,& always try to be positive.I just gave my opinion, thats all. :twocents:
