I just don't understand that if your organization was not prepared to produce an All-State team, then why did you do it? It is just asking for people to come back & slam some of the choices. I want to say congrats to everyone that made the team & will not say anything about who is not on it cause I don't get to see many games.

    Answer to your question....

If the NCFSCA had not taken on this endeavor, there would not have been an All-State Team for 2005. As I said before, our Association is working for the sport we love. Our goal was to recognize the outstanding efforts of these young ladies when no one else did. There are over 100 young ladies in the State being recognized with our list. As I said, it is not perfect, nor do we claim that it is. But I do know I am proud of our accomplishment and everyone that took part in its creation. We expected some disagreement and are willing to listen, but that will not take away from our excitement. Again congratulations to all the deserving ladies of 2005.

Many thanks to those involved in this effort

Sure some girls were missed. Noticed not one player from Wake County, for example. Why? Obviously the coaches were not interested enough to nominate them . . . . . it's football season, right? I only watch 4A and can say that this list is pretty sound. Look at the pitchers, three Wildcats, two Cardinals and two LB's plus Glosson and Page. I'd say they pretty well nailed it. If Coach Rivers group hadn't done this no one would. Better to honor many and miss a few than to honor none.

    congradulations

congradulations to everyone who made the all state team, hats off and thanks to "pop" rivers and company who made the effort to select an all state team under the conditions they had to deal with. I'm sure that this will work itself out next year as more coaches get involved. It would help if more coaches and AD's would get involved in this organization, more players would get nominated. But remember, no matter what you do, someone is not going to be happy about not being on the team, its just like that. So, congradulate the players who made it, don't dub anyone on the list. I think that we should all be happy that 2005 didn't go without an all state team. This surely is a situation that if you're not happy about it, join the organization and help make changes.

Well said, even if the list had been created right after the season, some would still gripe... Again Hats off to the Assn. for producing the list. Better late recognition rather than none at all. I am sure they will make the needed changes to make next year even better.

Pop, is there any way to change the fastpitch website to reflect the correct graduation years... I know it will not matter for Melody Harrell because she is already verbally committed to Gardner-Webb. But some coaches may look at the list and think Nicole Springer graduated last year. Just a thought... Thanks for all your work...

To Softball Nut... My mom taught me a saying, "if you can't say anything good don't say anything at all." There is a difference in just voicing an opinion and giving corrective criticism. Your harsh opinion out weighed your positive responses in your post. Just a little corrective criticism for you to think about as you make another post... Anyone can accept criticisms so long as they are done in a positive way. Of course this is just my opinion...

    What a complete flop!!

I have said it before, this is a worthy cause, but a pitiful attempt. The association has a serious problem with the nomination process which is the basis of the team selections. Why/How can the 2A team not have a single player from the 2A State Champs? Why/How can the teams have players that played JV all season make a Varsity level ALL STATE TEAM?? Why/How can the "Board of Directors" not make nominations for any player in the state and if they can how can you overlook talent? There are players on the list from the conference/classification that I am most familiar with that I have never heard of!? Boy I wish Michelle and Ihigh.com were back on board!

Like softballut said...How 'bout them politics!!! Try a little harder next time.

    Process Is Not Perfect

I realize there will be some issues with the selection process, especially in the first year but the efforts of everyone involved is appreciated. I know the "kinks" will get worked out.

But how can the catcher who led their team and conference in homeruns, batting average, on base percentage, walks and has a 1.62 POP time, from a team that finished 2nd in the state and plays on one of the best 18U travel teams in the state not be at least honorable mention?

Congrats to the student-athletes selected. :trophy: :229031_ha

agreed and Congratulations to all the young ladies!!

There are probably 15-20 Seniors who were All State as a Junior and even as a Sophomore Didnt make the team this year but if their HS Coaches Arent members of the association then they are left off???.....while Members who did join, placed one or several on the team and/or honorable mention list.
Definitely gotta get a major membership drive going and get the word out Parents: "hey Coach, are you a member of the NCFSCA?" for starters!!!

I too am confident that the Association will contiune to work on the "kinks" and we truely appreciate the dedication and hard work they put into picking the 2005 ALL STATE TEAMS!! Thanks guys and gals from this part of WNC!!

So far I think there are really only two people who are being way over critical by talking about Politics and all... It is amazing how people's memories are selective. I recall when Michelle and IHigh were running it, there were a lot more complaints on this board from people calling for a NEW system because kids were on that did not deserve it and kids who did deserve it were left off... The good ole' days of Michelle and IHigh was not any better than what we have now... They did the best they could and the ASSN is doing the best they can..

I think Cheese105 said it best by saying that more coaches should get involved... This is the major problem of this sport and why NC does not get respect. Too many coaches who have great players on their team but are only interested in collecting a paycheck and not helping the kids. I understand better than anyone the time constraints on coaches and support all they do. However, how long does it take to fill out a simple ballot and let your kids voices be heard. The ASSN can only vote on the kids they know about.. Therefore if someone was not on the list, according to Coach Rivers, it is probably because their coach did not nominate them... and thus they were not voted on...

Bottom line, if you want it changed next year, GET INVOLVED and get YOUR COACHES and AD's INVOLVED. Nothing will be solved by sitting on the sidelined griping and complaining... Actions always speak louder than words. Contact the ASSN and find out what you can do to help. At least there are people on there this year who are wanting to DO something rather than just GRIPE...
ONCE AGAIN...THANKS TO THE ASSN. AND ALL THEY DID THIS YEAR WITH WHAT THEY HAD TO WORK WITH..... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK... I KNOW YOU WILL IMPROVE THE PROCESS...
