    All-State

I guess I was brought up old school, where hard work,& dedication is supposed to get you somewhere. But as I have found out in life in general, politics will get you much further.I just feel that there were alot of players who didn't get their due, cause they were not in the "click".The Ass. did a good job with what they had,& I'm sure they will work the kinks out.

    Somebody missed this one!

Brianna Brown, Which High School did she play for? The girl that won Gatorade Player of the year, and also Signed to play at UNC this year. I saw her play S.S. for the Flames, and this girl has a Cannon. She can absolutly Hit it also. Don,t know how she got left out. She,s got my vote! I may have over looked her on the list, but I don,t think she was on there.

    All State 2005

The NCFSCA is to be commended for assuming the difficult job of selecting the all state teams after IHigh.com suddenly dropped the ball. This happened at a time when the newly formed coaches association was obviously experiencing some major organizational difficulties.

All state selections will NEVER satisfy everyone in a state the size of North Carolina. The complainers need to get involved by joining the organization and being constructive. EVERYONE needs to make sure their high school teams’ coaching staffs join and actively participate in the organization. No attention need be paid to the complainers who choose to do nothing but complain. :imagestor

lol......guessing this is not the time or the place to discuss who dropped what or who did this>

open discussions and ideas are needed and encouraged!

no one dropped the ball here.....great effort by those dedicated HS Coaches who organized and wanted to move forward!

Just my :twocents:, but leaving out the young lady from Jordan HS, the central cabbarus 3rd baseman and the catcher mentioned earlier from West Forsyth, who I hear all will be playing in a D1 college next year, somewhat dilutes the entire selection process. However, the folks on the selection committee can only work from the info provided and if that info is not complete, then you can't fault them.

Next time there should be some process of verifying with ALL the high school coaches their nominations or lack thereof. It seems that would be one of the responsibilities of each NCFSCA area reps.

    All-State

I have stayed silent on this topic as I too believe that the coaches can only work with what is brought to the table. Many of the coaches have never seen some of the girls play and either vote for someone in their conference or vote for kids whos teams made the state finals. The system is not perfect but at least the association is trying to make it better and more effective. All of U have some good thoughts and many of the girls that we all have watched in travel ball are not on the list. Many D-1 signees are not there. Did their coach nominate them? Did their coach attend and politic with the other coaches to make sure they knew her? Did they provide stats etc? Lots of unanswered questions. Good feedback from all and thanks to the coaches for working hard to get an all-state team out there. In softball like most other sports, it is hard to get two people to agree on much!! Ha HA :blah: :blah:

Verifying with all high school coaches?

Good luck. Both coaches at traditional SB powers in our area resigned this year. While I know who the replacements will be neither has been formally announced . . . after all, it's football season!! One of the individuals is not associated with the school system at all (nor has he ever seen a travel ball game). Clearly B Brown and Brittney (W Forsyth) should have been named. Difficult to figure out how the ball was dropped on these two. Brown has been a "known quantity" for a long time since her days of terrorizing 12U opponents while playing for the Spinners. Isn't the Flames coach also involved with the school team over at Jordan? Brittney is even tougher to figure since her WF teammates are there. Again, didn't I hear about a coaching change over there? In VA the all state team is named by the Associated Press. I'm not clear how this gets done since my perception is that the sport has no higher profile there than in NC. Clearly eastern NC was under represented. The fact that no one from the 2A state champs made the team is clear evidence of that. This reflects the fact that coaching in the east is just not where it should be. Ironically, I think that on a on a per capita basis the east puts just as many players in college programs as does the west. Again, thanks to all who participated.

    Recognition of All-State Team

Are there any plans to formally release the all-state team to the press? If nothing else the link to website could be e-mailed to sports editors of the larger papers. Also, there should be some way to honor the girls individually. Perhaps the association could secure a corporate sponsor willing to foot the bill for producing certificates for each girl. In 2004 I personally had plaques produced for the girls from our HS who made the team. I think they were appreciated.
