    Northeastern Coastal Conference

I’ve been so busy with work and other stuff that I have not seen a single game this year, but here is what has happened in the NCC.

The season was expected to belong to Northeastern, a team which brought everyone back from last year’s final four team. Pasquotank was expected to challenge for the conference title with the Cobb twins—two of the best pitchers in the conference--sharing the mound. Currituck surprised everyone and won the conference, with Northeastern coming in second. What a shame that Pasquotank did not make the state playoffs. What a shame that a split 2A/3A conference allows only two 2A schools into the playoffs. Currituck is a 3A size school that will be officially 3A next year. Look for Northeastern to go to Raleigh again if they can get past the opening round. Senior Shellie Wimpey has had a great season and has won a scholarship to Chowan.
