    Kings Mountain wins a thriller in 2nd round of playoffs. Up 5-3 in the top of the 7th, Ashbrook loads the bases with 1 out but Morgan Childers strikes out the next batter and gets the next batter to hit a weak roller to Brittany Thornburg who threw to Haley covering first for the final out. Setting up a rematch with RS Central who upset Enka tonight.

    Final 5-3 ....Kings Mountain at home friday night .... to advance on to Raleigh. Great Job KM....Timely hits and a 2 run homer by Brittany Thornburg. Good Job....Good Luck to you friday. Wish it could have been a rematch with Enka for all the marbles but it was not meant to be. Great season for Enka.

    Great game to watch, lead changed four times with Ashbrook ahead in first inning. Brittany Thornburg blasted a two run shot over left field fence. Ashbrook tried to come back, but great decision by KM coaches to intentionally walk Kayla Short worked in their favor, ending the game with bases loaded. Great performance by both teams. :woohoo:

    Swain - 6

    Great game with several lead changes. Swain was down 3-2 with two outs in bottom of 6th and got a single, walk, pass ball and two-run double to go ahead, 4-3. Then, NL duplicated that feat when with two outs they got the benefit of an infield error and then a double and outfield error to go ahead 7-4. Swain came back for two more runs in the bottom of the 7th and had the bases loaded when NL's pitcher, Nicole Baxter, got the final batter to strike out on an excellent change-up. Terrific effort by both teams and coaches. Good crowd in Bryson City. Kudos to Swain sophomore pitcher, Sarah Davis, and the rest of the Lady Devils for never giving up.

    The win by NL sets up a rematch with Cherryville. Although beating Cherryville 2 times already Baxter has been a bit off all year......Edge goes to Cherryville.:woot: :woot:
