I'm sure the playoffs and conference tourney will have some type of effect on the teams, but a team like Butler will probably be fine with all the talent they have. Not sure about Hopewell, Freedom has one kid that will play varsity that plays basketball but the rest of the players are ready to go.

I'm sure the teams won't be in top shape but it's a great way for the teams to get their season started.

    Scrimmage Results

Good day of softball in Morganton, Great Crowds at both fields. Game of the day had to be Freedom and Hopewell. Huge, loud crowd out to see two very good teams battle. Hopewell defeated Freedom in 4 innings 2-1. Freedom had a chance in the last inning with runners left on 2nd and 3rd. Lacey(sp) pitched for Hopewell and threw the ball extremly hard. Ramsey- sophomore pitched for Freedom and let the defense work. I think Hopewell only had 2 or 3 hits in the game. This game showed how far Freedom has come in the past two seasons. They still only have one senior, and started 3 freshman, 2 sophomores, 3 juniors, 1 senior.Hopewell will again be a noise maker in the state playoffs.
Freedom also beat Crest 8-2(?) they did loose the last game to a scrappy young Bandy's team.

Hopewell beat Crest and beat McDowell 4-0.

McDowell lost to Hopewell 4-0, beat Hibriten 10-0, beat JM Robinson 3-0

Not sure about the other games.

Great cold day for softball- the lights looked great at Freedom Park- IMO-the field now is close to the best in the area.

At Shuey field #1, Watauga and Hibriten tied in the first game 0-0. Watauga played a lot of young players in this game. Good defensive game by both teams.

Watauga outscored Bandys 5-4 in a good game where both teams subbed in a lot of players.

McDowell defeated Hibriten 10-0 as stated earlier. Hibriten really struggled defensively in this game. McDowell's bats looked good in this game.

Watauga outscored Fred T. Foard 5-3 in two innings to finish the evening for Watauga. Hopefully the pitcher from Foard that pitched this game only suffered a bruise as shot was hit back up the middle that looked like it hit her on the thigh.

Didn't see the result on the Crest-Foard game that wrapped up field 1.

I heard Crest won that one, something like 6-2, I'm not sure, though?

See you tomorrow. I'm anxious to see some of the Crossfire, and how they stack up.
